The price tends to move nearer full bid value the nearer we get to the takeout date, though of course there's a risk in the SPI stock price. Depends what sentiment is on SPI as to whether a potential overhang from the acquisition will spook it. It looks though it's been a pretty stellar performer to date.

I'm contemplating selling this as there's not much in it financially, at the moment for holding and receiving the SPI shares which surely will drop immediately on the transfer as ex RAS holders people cash in their SPI shares.

or...

Is there a flaw in this thinking?

O/T, I have added a new thread for Low P/E stock suggestions (of which RAS would have been had I done it back then).

Please feel free to add any suggestions.

Had a large holding sold half today will hold on to the rest which gives me a reasonable holding of SPI after the cash payment.

Digital Look

30.04.08 eps 26.26p p/e 22.4
30.04.09 eps 30.07p p/e 19.6

at closing price of 588p.

Clearly a well managed business and a good fit.
Could be in for a choppy time for the next couple of months.

SPI looks like an interesting company in its own right.
PER is listed in the 30's by ADVFN... anyone know if thats accurate.
Given their last sets of results and growth rates this does not seem expensive albeit not cheap either.
RAS is an excellent bolt on for them and will generate income immediately. Cost savings by absorbing them could be significant ...
whats everyone doing ?

Full taper relief if you bought after March 05 and hold for 2 years, but I think the answer is a bit more complicated if you owned the shares before they were AIM listed, as that period won't qualify for 75% taper relief. Say you bought the the shares on 24th Sept 02 and sell them on 24th Sept 07, then half the gain (2.5 yrs out of 5) will qualify for BATR at 75% and half will qualify for normal taper relief (15% after 5 years). So, the effective taper relief will only be 45%.

Up to a point, but the greater part of the offer is in cash. If the offer were cash only then the price would rise towards completion as the value of getting cash early by selling in the market decreased.

Looks like a fait accompli with 40% irrevocable acceptances.

Would have preferred all cash as value of bid could drift with lower SPI shares.

Looking at a long date chart I see these touched 550p in 2000 - that's what I call a take out price! - dream on.
