17/7/2007 12:06 | RNOW have spoiled their copy book through poor financial controls of which there is no doubt. But the company can hardly be blamed for the shortfall given the very unusual circumstances which they found themselves in following the murder of of their key Financial officer. The problem was also compounded by the departure of one very senior financial Officer who I understand suffered a nervous breakdown after that event. Office moves and the rest didnt help. But stand back and look at the business. Those fundametals which propelled the share price to over 500p havent changed.I apologise for reproducing this share tip by Small Cap Newsletter back in Feb,but it gives an excellent overview of the business: " The company runs a rapidly expanding online market research business. Sales last year trebled on the back of strong demand and organic growth on an international level. With the sector set to expand by 25% per annum and some bold advantages over the competition, the group is set to deliver solid growth which is not yet in the price. BUY. Research Now owns one of the largest proprietary, research-only online access panels in Europe . It currently has over a million active panel members across Europe and Australia . It also provides online fieldwork including data collection and processing to research agencies and direct to corporate clients. It is different to other online fieldwork companies in three ways: it has considerable geographic coverage in Europe , strong relationships with its clients, and a heavy focus on quality and execution. This puts it at the forefront of the growing market research sector as it shifts online. Since going public on AIM in August 2005, the group has delivered on its promises. It has expanded its panel and increased its profits organically. Revenues have grown at a compound annual rate of 140% and we expect this to settle at around 20% for the next three years in keeping with the growth of the online market research industry. The online market research sector has some fundamental attractions. The sector is forecast to grow at a rate of 20-25% per annum in the near term. This will be driven by the migration of traditional data collection methods to the internet; greater media fragmentation; globalisation; and increased outsourcing of market research. What is more, new research is much cheaper and faster to produce, as well as being more accurate, which will increase take-up..." I feel confident the Company will recapture its former exalted position... | nurdin
17/7/2007 11:42 | Schroders are merely doing what we are doing, buying more shares at a ludricuously low price. If I had the funds I too would build my stake to 20% and beyond without any intention of a takeover Hence my comment a red herring. They are simply buying rnow on the cheap. | opportunity
17/7/2007 08:52 | Schroders could well be building up a decent stake here..they've done their homework no doubt and see the potential here.... | pre
17/7/2007 08:44 | Over 20% gives schroders some influence over the company....this looks very interesting indeed and promising for holders, imo, dyor:-)) | pre
17/7/2007 07:09 | schroders won't want a board position; is classic institutional investor, not activist. This will be Andy Brough behind the scenes here, who occasionally takes large instinctive positions in small caps. fair play to RNOW to getting him on board, will certainly underpin the price. | markie7
17/7/2007 06:36 | A red herring? They have simply reported that Schroders have lifted their holding to 20%,which is significant in itself on two accounts. 1.Either Schroders think there has been an over reaction to recent results and the shares represent excellent value here and/or 2.the 20% holding gives them enough muscle to influence the direction and the management of the company, possibly from Board level positions Either way I see this announcement as very positive | nurdin
16/7/2007 23:10 | Unfortunately (I hope I am wrong) I think this announcement is a red herring - bid price did not shift significantly to reflect significant purchase. I think their purchase was simply opportunistic and happened to take them over 20%. Even my recent buying spree seems to have had an effect on the price, perhaps even more so than Schroders! LOL, if only :) I just hope the big companies are looking at these minnows now - previously they did not have the likes of yougov, toluna & research now on their radar screens. Even as late as the beginning of this year they appeared to have had their heads in a "back to the future" bucket, stuck in the year 1994. | opportunity
16/7/2007 18:43 | Yes interesting..I expect them to make a move pretty soon...:o) | nurdin
