Interims due out on Monday, the same day as the result of the Italian Referendum. If, as expected, the result is a NO to Mr Renzi, the market may provide a poor background. On the other hand, when have the polls got it right recently?

Investment trusts and Unit trusts do not pay capital gains on their profits that occur within the fund, neither can losses benefit them. Capital gains or losses are only realised when private investors sell their investments in the fund. Provided the gains made by the private investor are within the annual capital gains allowance then no tax is due. So it would be of no tax benefit to Neil Woodford to sell from one fund and buy in another.

Thanks Alpha. I understand your reasoning in that the sell would be detrimental to the fund share holders and therefore unacceptable. So back to reasoning why have so many shares been sold so cheaply so close to news. Doesn't seem logical, even given the low volumes. What about shares being bought cheaply by Rene with the aid of their big investors for eventual distribution as Director/SM bonus payments?
At least acquiring them at sub 3p impacts less than acquiring at 6p + on news. Here's hoping.
Thoughts!

Freddie, as I see it (layman), the funds are two separate vehicles with different individual investors in each. To do as you suspect, it would point towards dodgy practises/accounting. Just my opinion. He would have to sell from one fund in open market, for the benefit of investors in that one fund, and buy in open market for the other fund and investors. Just doesn't sit right with me somehow, but like I say, just a layman.

A question for the more experienced than I .....

Neil Woodford has two funds each containing Reneuron shares.
The original one is an main stream managed equity investment fund which has been running for longer than the newest fund which is a Trust fund.
Am I correct in assuming that there is a much lower potential capital gains liability for the latter aim held funds?
My reason for asking is that although Neil cannot exceed his 35% ish holding in Reneuron can his fund benefit from selling Reneuron from one fund into the other. If so, currently could he not claim a capital loss on the original fund as the share price is so low and then enjoy a tax efficient capital gain for the Trust fund when Rene shares come of age.
My only reason for questioning is that this strategy would place some logic on whats been going on for so many months.
Informed views appreciated

I'm hoping for a break through 3.5p during next week and back to 5p plus before 5th. Lets face it, it would place the share price back where it was 14 months ago. Since then the company has blossomed. Watch this space. Best wishes. Freddie

Let's hope 5th Dec is our early Xmas present and we see impressive progress in the trial update and our price move through 3.5p resistance.

Wasn't Mrs Clinton supposed to be a threat to biotech cos.? If so I'd imagine a bit of a bounce for the sector at some point ( not necessarily today!). And that in turn could encourage the situation a bit over here, inc maybe even this company's valuation.
