Market pricing in a halving of earnings IMO. Is there a cheaper stock, with as robust a balance sheet, out there?

I haven't seen such speculation and can't see it at mo' on bbc website.
I always take pundits opinions with a pinch of salt, as opinion will be biased by their own view of politics and very special personal perspective of what should and shouldn't be happening, whereas reality is a group vote - and that group typically has variance of opinion - atleast recently re interest rates...so finger in the air to guess is as good as anything.
IMO. :-)

some chatter that surprisingly low inflation may lead to deferral of august rise, which may have led to the small overdue bounce in the

RDW 1.3% up today and peers also circa 1% up on a flat FTSE day, with media comment thinking August rate rise likely and Jul-Aug is traditionally a quiet time for house moves.
RDW are well below their usual 600 to 620 trading range, but perhaps the negative sector sentiment is starting to turn.
I am a LTH across a number in Housing sector and GFRD, and stay optimistic that CRLN and top end london houses aside, sector is doing nicely thank-you.

IMO :-)

Agreed. Crest issues are specific to crest. RDW has lower price band so not hat dependent on chains for transactions. Berkeley is the same too but at the othe end of the scale

There was also a Bellway update yesterday which was very positive. I think Redrow has more similarity with Bellway than Crest.

Probably not. CRST have had falling forecasts for some time. RDW keep getting minor upgrades.

I thought CRST had some issues. RDW not.

I also thougth as you say that this "news" was already common knowledge.

RDW is a little range bound, it ought to be an investment...but there are trade opportunities too. The Market can't decide on the sector.

Thanks, they're interesting.

Both Cenkos and JP Morgan somewhat surpised to the positive, revising their EPS targets. Ultimatly you have to upgrade your targets in the face of that uplift in 1st half EPS and pipeline.

I have to confess I did the same and although my method was pretty crude we can see that if achieve a similar increase in earnings 2nd half as last year that the full year would easily beat the previous forecast at 78p.

Low gearing here and a forward peg of about 0.75

Encouragingly tremendous. Which rather belies the fear in the market that the outlook is poor I would say.

Given the low valuation this remains one of the better options at this point in the cycle (stock market cycle I mean).

I believe the UK all share is trading at a fPER of 13.7 presently and RDW is on 7.1

err... about half price then!

Now given that market corrections are usually about fears of short-term over pricing, I would say that any quality stock with a positive outlook would be less susceptible to a fall in such scenarios... because simply put it's under-priced not over-priced.

Of course if you fancy a house price calamity then all that is not relevant....but I don't (for reasons previoulsy explained).
