But if downing were going to support it, wouldn't they have done so before suspension? If they had working capital issues before suspension then they are only going to be exasperated as customers withhold payment even further due to the uncertainty and suppliers demand up-front payment to do any work. It just increases the amount of working capital needed to keep it going. The short-term balance sheet didn't look too bad in the last published results so something must have happened for downing to remove their support after they had changed the management and loaned them further capital. They have supported companies with much more debt and much worse short-term balance sheets in the past, such as Real Good Food. (Although I'd now be pretty worried if I was a holder there, given that the precedent appears to be set that downing won't automatically help with short-term cashflow issues.)

It seems a lot is happening behind the scenes. Downing and LO are probably re-thinking about whether they can support the company if it can manage to offload part of the business for cash. This limbo will have attracted predators looking to pick up the good bits ahead of administration. I think there is a chance it may avoid administration. A business disposal, placing at 1p and it could stagger on. Probably there will be some announcement tomorrow after 4.30pm so fingers crossed that it is positive.

Lots of interest from potential investors so looks the group could be broken up and jobs saved. Doesn't help me, but it's the only positive

Yep - I just reviewed my holdings - particularly in Severfield and decided the time is right to move on. I maybe wrong, but if this is a CON-Struction ;-). My holding in HUR helps me sleep better.

Con struction, no one wants to provide the cash? A hole somewhere perhaps? Bod confident for years, then suddenly they cant find cash. It could only happen in the Con struction industry.

9 days before someone can possibly bid for the company - Very big order book and a framework agreement of almost £20million - All these defense contracts will be thrown into doubt or cancelled - Its shocking! - Oatley will be taking an almighty kicking as well - However what it boils down to is what saffy said i.e skin in the game - All these directors have simply gone on a journey downhill with no respite as they hold zero shares - They will simply have a tap on the wrist and move on -

The imminent failure is due to lack of liquidity. Somehow despite the board's relative optimism of the past 3 years, the company has run out of cash and LO and Downing don't fancy throwing more millions at the problem. There is a big question mark over Comer the FD's competence. The company was suspended with a market cap of £5 million. To me that relatively high valuation suggests that the board and major shareholders were not aware of the extent of the liquidity problems until the last minute. As the poster above said a lot of reputations have been trashed here.

Several reputations have taken an almighty kicking here. LO and Downing mainly. Sadly Oatley as well though he can hardly be blamed. Thought he would have gone for decisive early action-trade sale/ business split/management changes. The whole thing just seemed to drift away into administration.

JM has been spending quite a bit on RHL - The big order book and all defence contracts now could be thrown out of the window - Even at this stage there a tiny chance of a white knight - We shall see - But I get the points above -

I think that is roughly correct... Institutions here won't blink too much of an eyelid as it is really not their money actually taking any risk... Looking @ the holdings.. 66% held by 3 institutions.. however.. no director holdings here so, they could and probably will take this into administration.. There is no loyalty when nothing is being risked.. Which is why one must look to the Nigel Wray type thinking when it comes to skin in the game.. saffy..

LO and Downing won't care much as it is not their monies being played with - Shocking state of affairs but it also brings to light institutions on AIM - No indication that things were so bad close to administration -

A tale of mismanagement. A weak chairman until he stepped down earlier this year, numerous changes in chief executive, the business was weakened by closure costs of R Blackett Charlton and the loss of the lucrative sub painting business. It was finally killed by the endless delays in Crossrail and Hinkley C and other nuclear projects being canned which left the Jordan business running at a fraction of capacity. All this overseen by Lombard Odier and Downing who together held half the company. A total shambles and shareholders will get nothing. Hopefully LO and Downing lose all their loans as well.
