I know as a fact that between 2013 and 2016 just before brexit vote, the £/euro is fluctuating between 1.2 to 1.4, and was strengthening, as I used to travel often in Europe on business. Once the market got wind of the Brexit vote it started downward slide. My point is that definitely one cannot see any promised brexit benefit but the opposite. In fact some arch brexiteers have done exactly the the opposite of what they preached to indeed benefit themselves, like some shorting £ and other moves his investment firm to Ireland.

r v reward: That's not true if you compare the GBP to the EUR over a period between 2009 to 2024 (now).

The Pound strengthened greatly against the Euro in the period Jul 2013 and Nov 2015. Perhaps that can be explained by the hope in the markets that we would remain in the EU? Who knows.

Then in the period late 2015 to Sept 2017 it dropped and it has generally remained in the range 1.10 to 1.20 ever since.

Between 1999 and mid 2007 the average range was 1.66 to 1.48.

Jul 2007 to Jan 2009 was a very large drop - way before Brexit. Others on here with more knowledge may well be able to explain what happened in that period. It was Gordon Brown's time (June 2007 - May 2010).

One indicator to see what brexit has done to uk is to look how CAC, DAX and FTSE100 have done after the Brexit. The other two have broken records, both have increased by about 60% in the past five years while ftse100 barely changed. CAC used to be much lower than ftse100 but is now about 5% higher. This is compounded by the devaluation of £ since Brexit. Is this the Brexit benefits?

It's a low and very desperate person who has to retort to highlight typos to defend his personal economic inadequacies, poor choices, and that of his peers. "RCturner" however is one such sad example!

It is slightly ironic that you complain about Brexiteers but don't know how to spell loser.

I wouldn't be surprised Skinny if it wasn't your posts that directed me to RECI in mid May 2023. If so, thanks.

I'm happy with the holding I now have with the additional £5k. Holding 8485 shares.

MRF: why DO folks always feel the need to add negative adjectives to the majority who supported Brexit?

Let's keep THIS thread focussed on RECI and leave the 'discussion' threads to those who wish to discuss non-investment related issues.

Feel free to join us there MRF.

Evelyn Partners Limited have increased their holding to over 5% today. It was only a small increase so wonder if they will keep accumulating

A minor piece of news that actually has something to do with RECI...

Evelyn Partners Limited have a small increase in holding that takes them JUST over 5% in total. Nice to see they're keeping the faith

Thanks Brucie, I can only imagine MRF has mixed me up with someone else!

I have no problems with people posting about Brexit, for or against. It's hardly irrelevant to investing is it?
