Small number of shares in issue, tightly held, quiet board, can move fast on news. We all hope so, this does tick all the boxes.

Am a bit overweight here now. If they are going to exceed forecasts for the full year, (which they already say !), then they'll be growing at some silly rate and rated as if they're not growing much at all.

I like shares that go up in stable steps. Don't see them very often - there's usually more cycling. Presumably means that its mainly stake builders not traders.

Looks good. Breaking out of the sideways consolidation after the strong rise on the trading update. Onwards and upwards.

"We are delighted to report a strong trading period across all the Company's core business segments and in particular a strong peak trading period for foreign exchange."

"As a result we expect our interim and full year profit before tax to be significantly ahead of market expectations."

This is what he wrote.

Ramsdens (RFX) has been on a roll - and this is interesting as it is a bit of a gold price play. I already am very well up on this share and as you know I am an averager-up! Despite the rises happy to be in for more.

Some very good revenue steams and there is nothing quite like the phrase "significantly ahead of market expectations".

Looks like the next report will be strong and I expect more rises.

Even if part of this is a bet on the gold or silver price, its a bet on the direction, not the absolute. ie. they've just got to make sure their buy price is appropriate. I've sold some gold before when the market had just started falling a few years ago and I got a rubbish price, although the actual gold price was pretty much the same as on the rise. They were hedging because of the falling price.

I think not Ron., this co. is a good deal more than simply a bullion dealer, it's is a pawn broker at its core. Sure much of that business revolves around gold and silver, but the business is more about loaning against the assets, and charging for the privilege. And let's not forget its FX side!

What goes up with gold quickly comes down with it. Nothing more than a gold price bet here imo.

if your a trader this action is great. As an investor I'm only interested in the long term direction. (which is up)

So why the big short-lived spike today? Disappointed it didn't stick - was it anything to do with the overnight spike in gold or in fear due to Parson's Green or am I reading too much into what's just noise?
