28/11/2014 14:29 | Whereas there does not seem to be anything unusual about the technology, It is being marketed very, very, comprehensively across all axes of management influence eg reporting functions, payment flexibility, and distribution width. The latter is pretty impressive: exploiting marketing strength of other transport service companies, devising synergies with Insurance companies, and low cost direct selling by phone in increasingly wide geographies. I believe that they are creating such marketing pressure that they will achieve critical momentum, grow much faster than the market, and break out as a main supplier. i imagine there will soon be a lot of profit taking before the share price continues with its 'Indian Rope Trick'. The share price channel is currently quite the steepest amongst all LSE shares | scrutable
26/11/2014 10:17 | "According to the initial proposal from the EC, the Smart Tachograph would enter into force 48 months after the entry into force of the regulation. However, the technical specification has not been adopted yet. The EC foresees the specification being in place by the latest of 31 December 2014 and that will then enter into force 40 months later." So basically we are looking at a period of 3 years time before the new smart Tachos come into force. In the meantime Telematics will grow in popularity. However there will become obvious pressures on operating margins because of the vast amount of competition out there. Does anyone know of any unique selling points of the Quartix system over anyone elses? | mrx9000
26/11/2014 10:10 | I have been looking into the Quartix System and it does not require any other software as it utilises Google Maps. I am not sure this is a good thing or not. The stated customer figures for Quartix sound impressive but when I look into their system I can find very little. The reviews out there are few and far between and other systems are not so reliant on a particular area and get better reviews. It is very much a crowded market and the amount of different systems out there is remarkable. What I do know as I have experience in this field is that the current range of Digital Tachographs are going to be changed. The powers to be are trialling Digital Tachographs with GPS capabilities. This will mean that VOSA etc can tell straight away if you have any driving infringments etc. You will not even need to be pulled over for them to check the Tacho etc. So question is will this system have a Telematics capability for Driver Operators to check the drivers hours etc in the same way and the answer has got to be a yes. So if the operator can tell the drivers hours etc from this new system then it is only time before other bits of the telematics system get rolled into the same system. This is why I am dubious about the longterm viability of the Quartix system. | mrx9000
