25/2/2011 11:07 | wad collector We may have to wait patiently until the Full Year Figures in three months. My long term optimism (which might be completely misplaced) is based on local gossip here in Farnborough. BA. and the market have also been down recently. z | zeppo
24/2/2011 23:20 | Z, your 230p prediction is beginning to look like a mirage at the moment. I was watching a demonstration of QQ's Xnet - what an impressive way to stop a renegade car/truck! | wad collector
08/2/2011 14:26 | QinetiQ signs new GBP275m revolving credit facility QinetiQ Group plc ("QinetiQ") today announces that it has successfully completed the re-financing of its existing credit facility, which matures in August 2012, with a new five-year revolving credit facility provided by the Group's six global, relationship banks. The new multi-currency facility, which matures in February 2016, totals GBP275m and will be un-drawn. It is a bit of a meaningless statement really, as it contains no details of the interest rates. "QQ would like to announce it has been shafted simultaneously by six banks as it agrees it will borrow money at an outrageous interest rate and offer its soul as collateral" | wad collector
03/2/2011 12:32 | The initial reaction to the management statement was a 6p rise. In a subdued market it is currently little changed. Will there be a tiny restoration of divi with the finals on May 26th? Still positive for the long term. z | zeppo
20/1/2011 15:03 | Living in Farnborough I pick up vibes. Optimistic target is for these shares to eventually get well above the £2.30ish previous high. Can't say when (or even if) - just vibes. Trading statement soon. Full Year Figures 26th May 2011. z | zeppo
20/1/2011 12:54 | shows more about it. Doubt this explains todays rise though. | wad collector
20/1/2011 12:42 | I missed this - Cool looking vehicle on the video.14 days aloft -useful. Also no RNS for this : (SHARECAST) - A consortium led by Logica, the information technology (IT) contracting specialist, has won a £157m outsourcing deal with the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA). Logica's partners in the i2d consortium are QinetiQ, Detica and Cable & Wireless. The contract runs for 10 years and will cover the provision of a platform for improved collaboration with SOCA's partners, plus the exploitation of intelligence and case management. The programme will also seek to create efficiencies through consolidation of data centres, networks and desktops. "This contract secures an efficient and sustainable IT platform which will enable us to modernise and enhance our technological capabilities in fighting crime and improve the effectiveness of UK law enforcement in dislocating criminal markets," said SOCA's director general, Trevor Pearce. No RNS for this one either , though on the QQ website .Perhaps they like to keep the contract wins secret? QinetiQ's Gunfire Detection System is U.S. Military Solution of Choice RESTON, VA (January 6, 2011) - QinetiQ North America today announced that the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps have selected SWATS® (Shoulder-Worn Acoustic Targeting System) as their solution of choice for individual gunfire detection systems. In use today in Afghanistan and Iraq, SWATS is quickly becoming the global standard for wearable gunfire detection. The U.S. Army selected SWATS for its Individual Gunfire Detection System (IGDS) program with an initial order for 13,500 units under an IDIQ contract for up to 30,000 units and training support. The U.S. Marine Corps also selected SWATS for its Man Wearable Gunfire Detection System (MWGDS) program with an order for over 900 units and training support. In addition to the U.S. military, SWATS has also been deployed with allied forces. SWATS can detect the origin of incoming fire in less than one second to minimize casualties and help defeat unseen threats. QinetiQ North America developed SWATS in response to concerns about the high toll of small arms fire on military forces. The system offers proven in-theater performance in a convenient, lightweight product that meets the highest military standards for rugged equipment. Weighing less than one pound and customizable to support diverse languages and military tactics, SWATS is a versatile solution for any combat force anywhere in the world. | wad collector
05/1/2011 15:19 | We have no visibility of the bids in process in the US, so price could also be driven suddenly by news based events (either way of course). I have a feeling that QQ will be striving to improve their prospects at every opportunity. The X-net contract was plucked like a rabbit from a hat at the last meeting - despite there being little or no mention previously. Then of course there was the recent NASA KSC support contract which came out of the blue. If nothing else they have the capacity to surprise. | mw
05/1/2011 14:20 | Yes ,though I think we going to have to wait a long while here. | wad collector
15/12/2010 13:24 | Management statement mid-Feb. Added back 2.5k a couple of days ago. Good to see the steady rise since then. After the traumas there are now some positive vibes. z | zeppo

13/12/2010 10:59 | I believe that after all the pain this will get back above previous high of £2.30ish - but don't hold your breath. It may take a while. Perhaps good for the long-term. Not for the day traders? z | zeppo
07/12/2010 14:05 | Could have something to do with it. The way the US has treated its most sensitive information beggars belief. At on time the brits were criticised by the US for being so sloppy about our IT security measures | selborne_edge
07/12/2010 13:55 | Could it be, perchance, a sudden interest in notable lack of cybersecurity in a certain part of the world? | mw

18/11/2010 16:07 | wad collector It is worthwhile considering some of the other figures, presented in the half yearly report, rather than the headline items that are unsurprisingly favoured by QinetiQ: EBITA: £13.7m (H1 2010) £44.4m (H1 2009) Net Assets: £389.7m (H1 2010) £521.6m (H1 2009) Profit: -£42.1m (H1 2010) £0.8m (H1 2009) Earnings Per Share: -6.4p (H1 2010) 0.1p (H1 2009) The good news is the reduction in net debt (H1 2010) £327.0m (H1 2009 £452.3m) but the other figures do not make for pleasant reading! The problem with QinetiQ's preferred measures, such as underlying profit, is that they ignore 'non-recurring' items associated with restructuring. This meets the legal accountancy definition but unfortunately the non-recurring costs (associated with redundancies) have in fact occurred for several years in a row. Until this 'restructuring' is finally completed it will be almost impossible to assess the true value of these shares. It should also be noted that the above figures are flattered by the suspension of dividend payments which saved £21.3m. P.S There is one item in the report which will appear in the next set of financial results: the net receipt from the sale of the S&IS business at $40m, because this sale completed after the reporting period (October 2010). | pseudosphere
18/11/2010 13:55 | wad collector Thank you for the info on the director's purchase/s. A small? divi at the year end. After all the pain for staff let's hope this can build into something worthwhile. z | zeppo
