Are people waking up to the fact that this loss making company with a market cap of £1.3 billion is absurdly over-rated? The panning by BBC's Watchdog laid down a marker. Caveat Emptor!

I see that NLG had a bit of engine trouble it seems. So what other stocks have you two dueled over??? Any other classic confrontations I should know about??? LMI? SGI?

Don't know about Purplebricks but after the US foray they may just become a pile of bricks. I would be very nervous about holding red hot growth stocks when the equity markets correct, most likely in Sept/oct. GL but these are not a buy at these levels imho.

Elcap - those guys you filtered? Well guess what they've vanished, like buyers of purp stock it would seem. Clearly the penny has dropped and they have accepted you do know what you are doing after all.

NY Boy it seems a little unlikely to me too that under protectionist Trump purp will just walk in to the US market. I bet they will find a regulatary way to stifle purp.

Simon Rubinsohn, chief economist at Rics, said: "Sales activity in the housing market has been slipping in the recent months and the most worrying aspect of the latest survey is the suggestion that this could continue for some time to come.

Will PURPs growth slow with these headwinds?

Yes an online estate agent is not a property portal, that is all rightmove is, even Purplebricks uses them to list their properties.

The valuation is totally ridiculous, most of it based on some hype for a big US market, this type of business even if it fitted into the US market would struggle anyway like all previous UK businesses that ended in the graveyard, remember Tesco with Fresh & Easy?

Best they get established in the UK for some years yet before expanding.

When the stock markets correct, these will be substantially lower imho

There is room for both. Look at stockbroking. David Jones set up Sharelink many moons ago as a cheap dealing facility and many more joined the fray. You would think that would see the end of stockbrokers charging 1.65%, but it wasnt.

Yes for starters Purp call themselves a hybrid and are more like a budget outsourced estate agent. I suppose you could compare them with Rightmove and Autotrader in the sense they are seemingly trying to become the dominant force in the marketplace.

But the difference with the other two is I am not clear as to where their profit will come from given that stock is at an all time low and even on a much higher charging model a quarter of estate agents are currently distressed, with the rest not making fortunes.

I don't know what their gameplan is. Are purp trying to do an Amazon and spend years and years gouging the opposition whilst building a bigger and bigger organisation? Are they playing a long game or promising profits in a couple of years time?

And if it shows signs of working won't the opposition simply shut all their offices and switch to the same model???
