07/8/2017 17:25 | What would worry me is the negotiation process. With a local agent they are more motivated to get a top price because they hope the word will get around and promote further instructions. How true or not this is I don't know but the model has stood the test of time at least. In what way are PURP motivated to negotiate a top price??? Also agents share information and will know what sold for how much over the last week in the area, information that PURP will not have. I am not clear what the motivation on the PURP side is to get the best price for you. Also on the buyer side buyers know there is more room in the price so will bid a bit less than with another agent. I think PURP help the buyer more than the seller personally. I can see PURP working well in a raging market like Bristol say where I have read houses go to 'best and final' often and there are many buyers chasing each house. But how will they do in softer markets where Estate Agents have to earn their money. | ltcm1
07/8/2017 17:07 | ANDY when are you going to apologize for ACCUSATION well ??????????????????? | tevita
07/8/2017 16:58 | ntv, Well you could try an AE, drive him down hard on the commission, and have nothing to pay if you subsequently cannot sell! At the very least you can test the market for free. | andy

07/8/2017 15:48 | Woodford's Patient Fund NAV for the last couple of years is pathetic. In probably the strongest /craziest bull market my cat could have done better walking about on the FT with muddy paws. It's going to look a whole lot worse soon too. | pediment
07/8/2017 15:43 | The thing with bricks is they do have a habit of coming tumbling down, often when you least expect... | ltcm1
07/8/2017 15:17 | High it goes the bigger the bubble, watch the gigantic failure in the US unfold. Obvious short over 500p, wait until the markets correct in the autumn, these will be down 30%+ lambs to the slaughter in the meanwhile, lemmings marching toward she cliff edge. 1Billion valuation is nonsense. | ny boy
07/8/2017 15:12 | So 'star investor' Neil Woodford owns 30% of PURP right??? Call me cynical but doesn't Woodford have a huge incentive to boost the PURP price to cover his ricks in Allied Minds (down 70%) and the US Pharma he had a total wipeout in after some fraud by the Directors??? Are we really to believe the likes of Foxtons and Savills are going to just stand by and let PURP eat their lunch??? Or that the Californian fraternity will let PURP just walk on in??? I would love to short these guys but how can a position be taken when Mr Woodford can stay irrational far longer than anyone else can stay solvent??? | ltcm1

07/8/2017 11:59 | What company were you with Elcapital? | snakeoilsalesman
07/8/2017 11:52 | I was only 18 at the time of the crash, but it really opened my eyes. I remember I had just come back form a Spanish lesson, and saw the Dow down 515 points on CH4 teletext on the night, thinking this is going to change things. The company I was with went bust due to written option losses so it really did wake me up.....just a few months into the job! | elcapital2017
07/8/2017 11:46 | YW ElCap. I recall stories about phones being taken off the hook so they didn't have to talk to the clients! Probably just as well really as it was too late then anyway. It doubtless did you good if you suffered losses early, it is easy to forget stocks and markets can go down aswell as up. The thing with PURP is Estate Agents are put on this planet to be wildly optimistic about everything. Their job is to talk constantly about potential, upside and growth but to have a monastic silence about risk and expense. I do infact like them and they are good fun on the whole but it must be remembered they are very clever at what they do. The thing with PURP is they are all bricks and no mortar!!! Not dissimilar to a sandcastle!!! And we all know what happens to them when the tide comes in... | ltcm1
