LGEN back to 265p yet we languish at 1460p - hardly seems fair. Pre split repositioning maybe.

Story out today that M&GPrudential will invest 875m in 40 Leadenhall St. The design for this project was originally revealed in 2013. Looks like M&G are trying to make a statement - which may not be a bad thing.

Capital Research & Mgmt Co have halved their investment in PRU from 9.8% to 4.9%. A sizeable chunk of shares. Believe that they were the largest shareholder.

Smoke - That is what some people think. We won't know until after the demerger.

I think the idea is that Prudential will be priced as a faster growing company and M&G will be priced as more of a lower growth income company. Currently its mispriced being a bit of both.

It may be that M&G gets sold off a bit after the demerger as Prudential is often held by those looking for growth/dividend growth and they won't want M&G.

Take, for example, Baillie Gifford UK Growth IT - they hold PRU but I doubt they will hold M&G for very long if they don't see growth potential.

It may not play out like this - there is quite a lot of talk of Prudential breaking up further after the demerger - there have been rumours that Ping An might buy Prudential's Asian business.

I plan to hold both companies for the foreseeable future after demerger.

Looks like the demerger to take place on 21st October. Hopefully we see something positive in the sum of the parts.

I would guess that the PRU share price will continue not be highly volatile with
rapid whipsaw moves in either direction. Not necessarily a bad situation for
those wanting to trade it, however I'm getting a bit old for that.

the problem is that {the Beeb reports} the demonstrators' demands have multiplied during this prolonged dissent and this may not be enough to pacify them. There has also been a sharp falloff in tourism and retail sales. You will have noticed that the Hang Seng rallied strongly today on rumours of the withdrawal of the extradition bill. Let's hope this is the harbinger of better times.
