Jon827, why go long?

Right issue = massive dilution. This has one way to go...

Brave to go against the trend, good luck Jon. One major problem with the markets is that few are investing strategically, probably because many see the mirage of a 'double dip' on the horizon. If so, the future value of PRU in two or three years time, is presently of no interest at all.

Morning Leeds, Im thinking support could be a 465 but that's a fair ways away, might get a few point bounce from 500

jon, id consider it but the danger is that these could be taken down to 450-460p quite quickly if they fall through 500p. i think 500p is an important barrier but if you were a serious size buyer i think they would wait post the impact of sterling, post the level of interests from existing holders became known post the danger of asian market implosion etc

thats all imo dyor

Yesterday I placed a modest PUT option, expiry June, but I also bought AV. at the same time, so it is just a pair trade. I am not bothered in direction it takes.

Experience of rights issues in current turbulent times, makes me think, however, that at some stage there will be a long leg down.

The best to buy for those looking for a long term investment maybe during the first two or three days either after it goes ex rights, or after the new shares are listed, depending on how the market feels about it.

We now have the usual johnny come latelys trying to talk this down but there has to be some reason the major players haven't already taken it down further. You would expect it to be below £5 but it isn't. I don't know what's going on and have even taken these off my watchlist until the dust settles.

Im sure the asian market will suffer a setback but the long term trend is clear. The dangers are in the price, the size of the deal and the execution risk plus the sterling falls. Im a little surprised that these havent come closer to £5 yet..

all imo dyor
