25/7/2017 08:56 | Morning all. Read the half year report, and bought the dip this morning. Not a huge position, but I'll add either way. Looks as if they've got a grip on things. Won't stop the shorters of course...... | penycae
23/7/2017 18:42 | Isn't PFG all about Vanquis Bank and it's new businesses? The original business has been struggling for years and will become less relevant in 5 or 10 years time. As long as Vanquis is doing well - thats the main point as far as I'm concerned. | topvest
19/7/2017 10:59 | I would have fined them more ; hate those SMS spams. | wad collector
18/7/2017 17:07 | Oops, ICO fine today. Only £80K but more damage to their reputation, suggests poor controls and management taking their eyes off the ball, nearly a million spam emails and SMS sent out according to reports. Desperate times. | sippguru
13/7/2017 13:15 | Minerve - "The issue here is loss of market share for Provident Financial." Yes, there will be some loss and as Wad has said it looks like a long haul for the share price to get back to it's peak. My main concern is the dividend, as long as they can keep that on track then I can wait. | losos
10/7/2017 14:56 | That is why I hold other competitors too. The market demand isn't dissapearing. The issue here is loss of market share for Provident Financial. | minerve
10/7/2017 13:08 | If you read the posts on the staff blog, many have defected to other companies. This is no way a one-off blip. The business will always go with the agent on the doorstep so getting rid of nearly half the agents doesn't seem like the cleverest thing to do. | shalex
05/7/2017 11:30 | Thanks Wad! I've made good money on this share in the past and reinvested in a small way just before the crash. The dividend is good , but i've sold half at a loss and am now prepared to wait for recovery. | biggcl
05/7/2017 10:16 | Biggcl , flattered to be asked. The Prov business model has stood up well over many decades despite being viewed as old-fashioned. The demand will always be there and I think the clean-up of the dodgy lending practices has not harmed Prov. Having said that, I wouldn't invest here if you cannot wait potentially a long time for a share price recovery. | wad collector
03/7/2017 12:25 | Liberum have made some howling calls recently. EZJ about the worst of late. Most brokers talk their own book. I'm happy to hold until the 25th. | penycae
03/7/2017 11:30 | Morning all. Just bought some of these. That gap will fill sooner or later. I see AQR are building their short position. Probably contributed to the drop this morning. Algos working overtime. | penycae
26/6/2017 11:23 | wad - you're a long term fan of this share. There has been a lot of doom-mongering in the press. What is your current view if I may ask (NAI!) thank you | biggcl
26/6/2017 11:21 | I still wince when I remember an investment in 'city darling' Independent Insurance. A black hole was discovered in the accounts, the share price collapsed and the company went into liquidation. The CEO got 7 years inside for fraud. 16 years later IIG customers and employees are receiving some financial compensation but there is nothing for shareholders. | robinnicolson
26/6/2017 10:03 | I've had my fair share of shockers , and I am reminded of the adage "Never invest anything in the stock market that you can't afford to lose" | wad collector
26/6/2017 09:10 | djderry - Yes we've all had them, not been in Cattles or Versaillles, but the ones I have had are erased from my memory haha. | losos
24/6/2017 20:17 | One of the reasons for my investing in provident is the 'heavy -touch'approach where they stay very close to the customer so the CEM role is a progression of that, albeit spurred on by regulation.Obviously On the subject of painful investment decisions, another one of mine was Versailles, one of the head guys siphoned off millions, allegedly. I use that last word on the advice of my legal people but you know what I mean! To this day I find it painful to visit, although the Hall of Mirrors and the gardens are somewhat soothing. | djderry
23/6/2017 16:06 | robinnicolson - Thanks, works fine if I do that, had a bit of a read through, interesting, but (as always) busy on other projects so left the registration for now. | losos
23/6/2017 13:33 | losos, type "http" instead of "hxxp" | robinnicolson
23/6/2017 13:18 | robinnicolson - The link didn't work for me, not unusual since I am not tech savy. I did notice that it starts hxxp which I've never seen before, (just to update my very limited knowledge) is the hxxp significant ? are we supposed to replace it with something ? God, life gets complicated sometimes haha. | losos
22/6/2017 18:06 | Here is the link to the Provident Financial Agents Forum. The general public are able to join (registration is very quick). Useful for PFG scuttlebutt! hxxp://providentagen Apparently The Times is running an article this weekend titled 'a day in the life of a collections agent' and are looking for contributions from PFG agents. | robinnicolson
22/6/2017 15:51 | "Customer Experience Manager" sounds like they have had consultants take over - the latest fad and conveniently forgetting they have a business to run. | fenners66 |
