Yes very happy with the results - I wouldn't say these are on a low PE (PE is around 21) but they're a good company at a reasonable price, so I'm happy to keep holding.

Deadly , you are asking the right question looking at the further rises. Time will tell ; it depends which pundit you believe. I doubt the next pre-election 100 days will be a period of political stability....

Question is: will there be weakness?
FTSE is trailing many other indices and uk shares may be on a roll.

2499 saw my penultimate holding go . This rise has been more persistent than usual here ; where are those shorters when I want them?

Breached £25 this morning - I wonder where it is going now ; I have sold most of mine too early , but still think this will retrace.

Well , 6% down from my highest sell price 3 days ago , and you have to question , what exactly has devalued the company in that time by that much?
Oil prices? , Greece? , Chinese Market fall ?
They don't seem particularly relevant to this company. I love it when the market does this ; it is an opportunity to profit.

2386 for those, 2420 for another lump set. Apologies to anyone who reads this , I use the board to record my trades - quicker than all the security logins on my a/c.
Also I am deeply sceptical of posters who claim retrospective magnificent trades.

2375 another limit set. I may regret these sales later , but making a tidy profit over a few months and some chunky dividends in the bag. Prov has , in recent yrs , been vulnerable to shorters and I hate to see paper profits leak away. We will see. And I still hold half . Can't believe I was picking these up at £15 or £16 a year ago.

Wow 2308 - all time high . Watching closely because I think it may tumble rather than breakout. 2315 limit sell set for another lump. Fulfilled later , thank you somebody.

It was boosted by PAG results today. Looks good for a break out.

Close to all time high , took some profits at 2277. I see no News that is affecting the share price today , so suspect it will sink again. Still holding most of mine though.

The OFT conclusions today has not affected the share price - I presume because the reputable end of the market will benefit from some more clients albeit with less margins.

Excellent statement today.

"The group has performed well through the third quarter of the year. Credit quality in all three businesses is very sound and the group's funding position is strong, leaving it well positioned to deliver further good quality growth for 2014 as a whole."

Goes XD in 2 weeks. Got to be great value now.

Wonga writing off an amazing 300,000 loans yesterday has done the Prov share price no harm today. Highlights the difference between the business's.
Suspect a gentle rise up to xd day in 3 weeks . Can't believe these were less than £16 a year ago. I wondered why at the time , presumably the shorters were a factor again. And will be again at some point presumably.

Tipped last week in the Telegraph. (The share price has risen sharply this
afternoon to close at 2167p. )

Provident Financial, the 134-year-old doorstep lender, announced
impressive results for the first half of the year, and this caught
the eye of James Henderson.

The respected fund manager, who runs the Henderson UK Equity Income
& Growth fund as well as portfolios for Lowland and Law
Debenture investment trusts, said the firm is one of the safest
income dividend payers, offering a juicy 4.6pc yield.

The Bradford-based company reported a 23pc leap in profits, driven
by its credit card business, which has reaped the rewards from
banks becoming more conservative about who they lend money to.

People with poor credit histories who are rejected by mainstream
lenders turn to companies such as Provident Financial, and in the
past six months in Britain alone customer numbers have increased by
17pc.

“The credit card business has been growing very successfully
in recent years. It now makes the company more money than the
traditional business of door-to-door lending,” said Mr
Henderson.

“However, it was the discipline and skills learnt in this
activity that has meant they have succeeded in rapidly growing the
credit card business.

"The cards are issued by Provident’s subsidiary Vanquis Bank.
It has 1.25 million customers in the UK and is securely
financed.”

Over the past year shares in the firm have risen 21pc to trade just
under £21 per share.
