You got me thinking so I went back and had a look at the last results.
Vanquis Bank growing well, £13m exceptionals that are supposed to deliver £20m+ of savings other growth in cc and we might a assume a more benign environment for defaults....

So I expect growth this half, I guess the question is , is that still going to be enough to support the sp, then there is ex-div date soon... questions .. questions

2105 and rising likely you are right Wad but getting out to get back in later could be tricky so leaving in the draw has worked for me so far.

20.94 triggered a sell limit for a part of mine. I like PFG but this seems unlikely to be sustained.

Wow shot through £20, glad (for the moment) these are a buy and hold for me.

..or not. Surged up to 2065. Tempting to sell a few before the shorters move in again. Can't see any news though I note that Canaccord changed their tune last week from sell to hold even though their forecasts remain the same.

Finally breached £20 , albeit for a few seconds! Presumably there will be some resistance as buyers don't like starting their order with a two.

My dubious chart heads towards £25 and that would not seem an outrageous price target by fundamentals over the next couple of yrs. And the share price has now touched a high at 1921p ; usually at these points the PFG shorters appear.

I still can't figure the Canaccord numbers - even with the recent share price rise they still predict a 5.7% prospective yield , well covered and yet they want you to sell!
Thanks chaps , but I think I will hold.

I am no chartist , but if you look back 30 yrs then the share price looks like it could go a fair bit higher. Clearly there are lots of assumptions about this , not least that there have been changes to PFG in that time , including the demerger , but you have to educate your guesses a bit....

I had to laugh just now when I saw the latest broker recommendations;

So canaccord are predicting a dps of 107p next year giving a prospective yield of 5.8% covered by 1.3X and yet they advise sell. I wonder where they suspect a better yield might lie?

The analyst presentation on the PFG website is well worth watching. CEO Peter Crook is bullish about the future growth potential of the Vanquis and Satsuma segments of the business.

Cracking results and although the share price has dropped off the £19 peak an hour ago , wait until a few broker notes start circulating over the next few days. If you are looking for capital gains. Personally I am happy to milk the yield. This business has adapted well to the changing markets . If you consider its performance through the recession , what will it do in the improving economic climes? Credit demand is likely to go up , and defaults down. Probably.
That said , it is tempting to sell a few and look to buy back when the shorters come back, but I don't think I will this time.

Dividend up 10%
Compound at that rate for a few years and these remain worth holding.

New all time closing high - can't complain about that. Verizon cash chasing it?
I am not tempted to sell even though I averaged about £16 on a series of buys in Oct/Nov. I want more.

Good to see £17 breached again , though as a holder I would rather see it dip down so I can buy more.
Canaccord were advising a £14 sell target in October and still are - disappointing to think that someone earned a sizeable fee for that bit of analysis.
