this kind of rapid rise and MM buys happens when stock is short and large orders are to be filled imho they raise the price up quick to near where the last level of trading was and then hope as it the slowely creeps up then people will sell who held through the spike down. get enough sells/fill the order and then the price can go up quick and they will hope to get enough sells in this week or next before the 14TH. i would say once they get enough sells and the order is filled then a big rise up will happen before end of trade on the 11TH.

You can see why someone might be interested in supporting the price up to the EGM to encourage the vote to go the "right" way.

But why would anyone want to support the price in the approach to the interims? Surely this must be genuine purchase interest.

However unless I learn something to change my mind about the cleaning businesses, I'll be responsible for some genuine selling interest at a price quite near here.

What happened Katy ? Miss the bottom ? any other wild ideas to throw around, the sale of placing shares at 14p was done in a lap dance club ? something like that ?

share support to bump the price up before interims and whatever next..........

if you did not know that interims were on the 14TH then you would not know that Monday was T10 day, some people did know it was T10 day but before the market knew today it was T10 day ???? today is T9 to results.............................nudge nudge wink wink say no more but imho some good results and news is just a few days away now.

There was a clear case of share support going on prior to FLT's metamorphosis into PROV. In the event, that support ceased shortly thereafter (EGM vote won?) and the share-price drifted down to where it was a couple of days ago. Now the interims are on the horizon and lo... someone starts buying again... I do wonder (call me a cynic) if any of this (including mysterious 14p placings) goes very much further than the house-broker...

Hi,

2004jj - If you get any more excited, you'll explode !!! :-)
The truth is surely that we don't know why the share price is rising, but it's very welcome anyway.

Edit: actually no, I'm wrong. We DO know why the share price rising - because someone is buying large chunks in the market. But we don't know why they are doing that.

Presumably though, if people were prepared to pay 14p in the recent Placing, then they would be very happy to buy stock in the market at 8-9p ?

Regards, Paul.

MRSA scares this year should have boosted Osprey sales into decent profits for Proventec and could be a record sales year for them

Yes, as I recall 'thinkBIG?' engaged in similar enthusiam
over FLT (as a substitute for knowledge). Then of course,
it all went pear-shaped. Perhap you will have more
luck. You could hardly have less...

of course Katy...so a few people work up yesterday and decided to fill their boots with PROV...for no reason of course...nearly all shares go up in advance of big news...or tipping...or before posting good profits at results...its a leaky market out there...

Also, news that matters is invariably price-sensitive.
Market rules require that kind of news has to be
released. The idea that it is held back for the
results... is just a ramper's myth...

got this from a post on another board from august

JULY/2005 FLT (PROV) price 12.3p

Investee Hardide floated successfully on AIM in April. Flintstone's 31.45% stake, worth £4m at IPO, is now worth £4.6m, and Chestnutt sees further upside. Elsewhere within the portfolio, Keronite is weighing up an AIM float before the end of the year and Biocote has moved into profit. Add

jaygino do not know but could be innoconcept

could we get motors news-last sentance ?

From the final results 25/JUL – has motor sales started ???

Ultra Motor Company Limited has also received further funding during the year;
Flintstone supported Ultra Motor by converting part of its outstanding debt owed by the company into additional equity in March 2005. The balance of the debt has now been converted into equity. At the date of this report the Company retains a 44.6 per cent. holding in Ultra Motor. The company has recently appointed a new Chief Executive who has previous experience of preparing a company for a successful market listing and already the company is benefiting from his approach to the management and engineering issues facing the company.
The company remains on target to have its first hub motor in production and on
sale before the end of this year.

Interim resuts 14th Nov. Earlier than I expected (did wonder if they would try to bury them just before Christmass). Should be interesting. First opportunity to see, whether or not it is all smoke and mirrors...

this says it all - if they can place at 14p when the price is sub 10p then there is good news coming before long imho !!!

2004jj - 1 Nov'05 - 08:46 - 19 of 21

you do not get a placing off at 14p unless you have some good news lined up and shared around in advance !!! imho

Elsewhere, Proventec, a tiny provider of specialist cleaning and coatings technologies, proved to be a talking point. Its shares rose only 0.62p to 9.87p despite news that it had raised £1m via an issue of new shares at 14p.
