personal more than business.

I understand that this could be a good deal in the long term but i'm more worried about the short term and a stand alone pti gives me more confidence than a new pti/btg.
PTI on it's own wasn't going anywhere in a hurry but it was going north gradually, the new company is a different animal and nobody really knows what it will do. I understand that people on here are a lot better read on these issues than me but i'll follow my gut, it normaly looks after me reasonably well.

Re :-

I have been alerted by a friend to a news article, which if advanced through the news items gives an interesting insight with regards to the news today.

A Dr. Alasdair Coles from Cambridge University has made some very notable comments with reference to the above.

For those investing and not trading I would suggest you go to the link as follows and go to the (watch) 'latest edition of the news in full' in the top right hand corner.

Time is limited.

Backed up by some positive indications from the Angiotensin and CytoFab trials and the combined group will be looking very tasty!
Big enough to be snaffled up in the global rationalisation moves.
Dollar earnings will help as well.

Keep the faith time!

Nomura still topping up - I believe they are significant holders of BCG as well.

Looking like a done deal, with 12-24 months to wait for significant pipeline news from both sides?

bob - because it isnt as cheap as some think and the pipeline isnt great.

I bought BGC in the 90s a while back, but got impatient and sold. It then went to 240p. Good stock, but it will have to clear the PTI issue and break out of the downtrend - or release some significant news. Vs is a risky product IMO.

mre - same point

The Doctor, got the feeling something is not right with PTI.
Cannot put my finger on it. Not really that well versed on the potential, but big worry AZN not buying their main hope.
What do you think currently of BGC potential.

I've always said AZN probably wouldnt want to acquire PTI - or at least, not yet. There are other higher priorities on their list IMO and they have what they need here. Moreover, they'd want to see further trial data.
For those reasons, I suggested that a smaller co. might be having a go at a cheap bid... that it would probably fail and that the price would slump down.

The rampers couldnt have got it more wrong 'safest bet on AIM they said at 58p'!

Whatever the reality of the situation - that is what he meant. And regarding your second point - that is the exactly it. If a pharma had the will and enough cash they would have done it anyway. Which begs the question - if they were going to do it why haven't they done it before? Answer - because they don't want to. HT

1) it isnt true - small biotech/pharmas have dropped massively this year. Until last week, AZN and GSK had risen 20% or so

2) even if it was true, the AZN price is irrelevant. If a pharma has sufficient cash, then they can take advantage.

What he means is that all boats rise and fall with the tide in the same way - doesn't matter if they are large or small

What he means is that all boats rise and fall with the tide in the same way - doesn't matter if they are large or small. Also the recent rises and falls of the financial tide does not alter the fundamentals As we all know nothing has materially changed - other than the share price - and all companies have suffered in the same way. So if he saw no reason to buy before the crash then he sees no reason now. HT

I've been wondering if any of the other PTI bidders will re-emerge. If any of them were offering cash then it would seem to be the ideal time to go hostile with the share price down to pre-bid levels. While I would have said a 50p/shr bid stood no chance a few weeks back there are many institutions who would be glad to see the cash now.

If there is a cash bidder waiting to spoil the party they will have to move soon, clock's ticking.

Brennan is talking rubbish - why? because he paid a high price for Medimmune and doesnt want to concede that it would probably be higher now. Moreover smaller stocks especially have been hit hard. His comment about boats is total crud
