No position

My view FWIW is that every Company should arrange the AGM, and any other investor gatherings, at a time when most shareholders can make it, not at a time to suit the Directors or any hidden agendas. You may draw your own conclusions as to where most Investors live and travel from.

Artemis now hold over 5% (8.52% to be precise).
Good to see institutional interest here.

I think if you'd just said that and not mixed in various other points in your opening post it would have been less confusing. Good luck with your discussions.

David I believe you are on the Board of Sharesoc. I am sure you will reflect on the views aired on here, rather than just pushing your own view forward.

My view is that 9.30am in Wetherby is far too early for 75% or more of the shareholders who may or may not wish to attend. If it is noon in Wetherby I am very pleased that the company are trying to accommodate ALL shareholders needs as far as reasonably possible.

I explained it is a principle point and I am a member of sharesoc as it happens, although if this is the dismissive immovable approach of the organisation when someone dares to disagree with you I might rethink things. No point in continuing the debate as you are now focussing on the credibility of people who have a different view to you rather than the issue we were debating.

Errr.... did I say it had to be in London ? I am a shareholder and will make my personal views known to the company. I think the main thrust of my argument is about the timing of the Agm.

Monday 9.30 am

I live in Kent so need a Sunday evening train and overnight stay

I have attended at least fifty Agms over the years in many varied locations outside London and enjoy visiting the company bases and HQs so it is pointless trying to convince me...I am simply concerned about the early time as it will deter genuine shareholders.

Hydrus....If you are not even a shareholder and probably not a member of ShareSoc why are you concerned about the actions of either ?

If you want to check the ShareSoc blog you will see that we were influential in changing the DX Group Agm to 10.30am from the original ludicrous time of 8.30am. We also have members notes from hundreds of Agms so a very useful service

The company now covers Aberdeen to London in the UK. Wetherby is a good location for this. Local investors deserve the opportunity

'If you own shares there are ownership rights and responsibilities' A wonderful principle (by which I assume you mean including attending AGMs), which is of course a whole lot easier for full time investors without work commitments.....

Meant to say .........this isn't company specific it's just a principle point that AGMs don't have to be in London and it's good to have them where the company is actually based.I have only been able to attend two AGMs this year one of them was nearish to where I lived so that was ok and the other I had to trek to London and pay expensive railway tickets etc - the company was headquartered about 100 miles from London. I think rotating them is not a bad idea but I don't think we need to criticise a company for holding an AGM near its base. After all perhaps encouraging local ownership/engagement from share holders/local press etc is something that should be encouraged?

Maybe it is just a few long term investors that fight to make Agms an important part of the company calendar and to be as accessible and interesting as possible to attract maximum number of owners of the company. I guess most of you have never been interested in attending one anyway. Sadly fund managers, who often own half the company acting on behalf of those invested in their funds, never even send a rep or junior so are oblivious to any matters raised at an annual meeting.

Basically 50 private investors could turn up and vote against something but if just one fund manager who knows nothing about the issue has voted in favour prior to the meeting then nothing will change. This is not PHD related but just saying....

If you own shares there are ownership rights and responsibilities

Did any of you attend the Agm last year ?

Very pleased the agm is in the north and an early start leaves the rest of the day for business.

Tea and biscuits don't attract useful investors, results do.

If you are including fund managers then agreed the largest shareholders will be in London but I struggle to sympathise with them having to travel to Yorkshire for a 9:30am meeting. Many of us will have to travel for work.......often for 9am meetings in London. Anyway why not ask them if they can move it later if you think it's a problem?
hydrus

I did say it is difficult to complain about the location and I am all for rotating Agms to allow all shareholders a chance but moving it to an earlier time for a more awkward travel destination is not good shareholder friendly engagement is it ?

I am a Northerner so I am very pro meetings outside London but like it or not 75% of the shareholder base will reside or work closer to London than Wetherby. London also has great transport links. However Wetherby is fine but what is wrong with a noon start then we all have a chance to attend ? In London ShareSoc recommends an 11am or 2pm start.

Worth mentioning the prohibitive costs of getting to London for most retail investors also. Anyway a later time for the AGM is the only thing I agree with in your post.
hydrus

I very much doubt 75% of retail investors live in the South East. You do realise the vast majority of the country live outside the South East? Company should be applauded for this and in fact by holding it one year in Yorkshire and one year in London they really are catering for everyone. Yet still some people complain......It was closer to Christmas last year also.

The company are doing well and the share price at an all time high so why do the directors not want to meet and share the good news with investors and shareholders ?

Spot the difference....

Notice of Annual General Meeting
Dear Shareholder,
I am pleased to be writing to you with details of our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which we are holding at the
offices of Redleaf Communications at First Floor, 4 London Wall Buildings, London EC2M 5NT on Monday 21
December 2015 at 10.00 a.m.

This year just three working days before Christmas...

Notice of Annual General Meeting
Dear Shareholder,
I am pleased to be writing to you with details of our Annual General Meeting ("AGM") which we are holding at
Riverview Court, Castle Gate, Wetherby, LS22 6LE on Monday 19 December 2016 at 9.30 am.

I actually think it is difficult to complain about Agms being held at or near company HQs but are the directors really encouraging engagement and attendance at the members one and only meeting each year if held at such an early time. If in north Yorkshire which takes four or five hours travel from the south East (where 75% of shareholders in any companies tend to be) I think noon or 2pm are sensible times to start an AGM.

It is strange that they think an earlier start is possible for Wetherby than London in any event ? London is very good for transport links not so Wetherby. Will they be having a dial in facility ?

Trumpet fanfare :-) as current 157p equals previous all-time high (current 155-159p).
Consensus earnings forecasts to July 17 and July 18 has been increased this month by +11.3% to 8.62p and 13.6% to 10.5p respectively.
Hopefully onwards and upwards from here.

Always have to do your own legwork. Even if you pay for research it can still be misleading should the market the company be operating within go through rapid change. It's all a moment in time.
