Its more highly geared than its peers and POO trends tend to be accentuated having watched it for years.

The slightly odd thing for me is ENQ hasn't responded quite as much as PMO.

PMO's half-year results and update are good 5-6 weeks away too.

Your figures :

£43.6bn in 1987 adjusted for inflation is £125.7 bn now.

16% more people than 1987. £125.7bn X 1.16= £145.8 bn

So I suggest we're paying roughly the same for healthcare as 1987. But many people are older. It's not about blaming elderly, the fact is older people need more health care. People are living longer. That's a good thing.

Health Spending

1987/1988 £43.6bn
UK population - 56.8 million (1987)

2016/2017 £144.3bn
UK population - 66.04 million (2017)

And blaming the elderly is simply disgusting. They're the ones that have paid in to the system for 40-60 years unlike many of the parasites or hypochondriacs these days.

By what metric is the 'There is Plenty of Money' myth being perpetuated??

There is not plenty of money.

As a percentage of GDP we spend less than any comparable economy per head. We spend less than two thirds what the US spends and they still fail to cover 30% of their population.

We have one quarter of the hospital beds per 1000 people than Germany.

Per pound/doctor/nurse the NHS is extraordinarily efficient by ANY standard (this is my job and I look at this stuff on a day to day basis).

In the past decade the NHS has endured more consecutive years of below inflation funding increases than ANY other healthcare system in the history of world and not collapsed.......simply due to the dedication and goodwill of staff working way beyond their contracts.

You get what you pay for. 97% of what is need is not enough in terms of funding, and inefficiency rises when funding is tight as resources are spent deciding what not to do, as opposed to getting on and doing stuff.

Its complex. There's no simple solution. Less political interference and a bit more money and the difference would be massive.

All about money.... too many people in country not contributing enough to pay for it all. Nurses then cheaper option

Doctors are a becoming a rare breed more than 50% of the appointments at my doctors surgery are covered by nurses. Try to book an appointment online (2-3 weeks ahead) and it's invariably a nurse.
Can't understand why the NHS and Brexit are thought to be closely connected?

adg.. It seems that you just need someone to talk to (at?).

Aren't there any social clubs in your area, or maybe you could join your better half and go whine to your lodgers about the state of the country and your many houses over a nescafe.

Meanwhile, PMO +3.29% @77.80 and Crude is up 2.2%

As you were...

lol

(just realised that this is not the PMO board but the angry whiney old men board- So many knowledgeable potential candidates to be the next PM and sort everything out that is wrong with this country from the comfort of their armchairs).
