My family and I have had to visit A+E a number of times in the past few years. On every occasion they were brilliant. I used to be a private patient somewhere else but switched to NHS when I moved house to avoid a long drive. The service I have received is better than my private experience. It must vary from town to town I guess. I suspect large cities have a problem.

I had to take an employee to QMC Notts A+E (terrible experience) arrived around 5pm and were in a queue that would have meant being sorted by around 3am! I took him back to our base overnight called an ambulance in the morning and he was admitted swiftly.

One thing I will say is that if you take away every foreign national from the Hospital system there would be NO service at all, absolutely nothing.
We are not encouraging children to enter the profession unlike other nationals. All Brit kids want to do is be a footballer or Youtuber it seems.
Sad, very sad.

"Heath service is almost broken, should be a £5 charge across the board to see a doc and young hypochondriacs should be charged treble that (almost all the young kids at work & my kids friends have lots of sick time and social media/internet has made them armchair doctors and they think the smallest gripe is a major illness..)"

I agree is large part (I think £3 would be enough to deter much of the nonsense that comes our way), but you should see the STINK that even the Daily mail kicks up when I organize for that to be debated at national GP conferences (I'm a fairly senior GP at regional level).

The irony is that the motion always gets roundly voted down by GPs themselves whipped up into a frenzy by the anarcho-socialist collective of Tower Hamlets.

At my practice we're seeing now EVERYONE on average 8-9 times per year for £120 per head funding! What would your plumber do for you 8 or 9 times per year for that amount, other than tell you to f-off? The average used to be 4 visits per year, and even that is greater than out contract assumes.

Farmers fear being wiped out once EU subsidies end...oh well, many of them voted for it. But it is a pity the landscape wont be so well maintained. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-48880939https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/jul/09/farmer-no-deal-brexit-eu-agriculture-food-britain

More people coming in from outside the EU than inside. Skills shortages in key sectors, huge shortage of low paid nurses and care workers, with Europeans that did many of those low paid jobs feeling unwelcome and leaving or no longer coming in first place. As for doctors, there is a massive ageing GP problem and a rapidly ageing British population.....Europeans are convenient scapegoats. As for takers from the system, the stats show that there is a higher percentage of Central and Eastern Europeans in work than Brits, with a younger age demographic. Meanwhile tens if thousands of British pensioners are a drain on the Spanish and French health systems. I'm glad I've flushed out the clueless here.

"It’s too many takers, too many non-contributors, too many leaches who think they are entitled to others (them, the state) providing for the lazy fekkers no matter what..."

Nailed it ADG.

Quite the opposite. The typical leave voter suggests that the island is full and if you dont agree with Brexit you should leave the country. My comment was an irreverent take on Asanine Asa's stupid comment

"The global economy would have crashed a long long way before $300 oil - thus reducing demand ergo massively reducing price"

Spot on.

The solution to "High Oil prices" is high prices.
The same holds the other way.

In order to not deliver what we saw in the recent presentation Brent has to go sub $62.1 . So we either have investors not liking the deliverables , ie further debt reduction etc and the likes of RBC report a load of nonsense ( they have been in the past ) but equally I'd add UBS report and others . Or we genuinely have a stock at 50% of where it should be . Hoping it's the second and Pmo needs to start to outperform Brent as it has trailed for quite some time

"The Government can at a stroke reduce carbon footprint by 60% by planting 20% of farmland with new trees , there will also be added benefit of all those cows not farting away all day long."

And if we deport the 1-2 million illegals, the foreigners in our prison populace(and their extended families as punishment), we'll lower the carbon footprint of UK even lower.

The Government can at a stroke reduce carbon footprint by 60% by planting 20% of farmland with new trees , there will also be added benefit of all those cows not farting away all day long. In Finland Sweden and Norway they have wood burners which burn with very little emissions , why do we always drag our heels when it comes to being clever .
