05/2/2016 12:16 | AB operating profit was 13.7m out of 88m, so PFL will be left with 74.3m AB sold for £155m and will receive net around £124m "Net cash proceeds arising from the Disposal will be used to reduce Premier Farnell's existing indebtedness and to redeem its preference shares. " so 56m will used for pref shares and remaining 68m to reduce debt Last year , PFL paid 3.5m div on pref shares and 10.5 interest. | bs76
05/2/2016 11:25 | Regarding the sale of AB, cannot see a problem with it, it was not a massive part of the business and to get over 150 million is a decent figure imho, will improve the financial position significantly and not have a dramatic impact on profits going forward. Not sure how it can be viewed as a negative in any way, I certainly don't expect a dividend cut, seems strange to think there would be one. I see this as a recovery play that may take time and be frustrating but there are some decent signs imho, costs are being kept under control, cash flow seemed very good in September and this sale takes a lot of financial worries away. I'm holding. | eastbourne1982
05/2/2016 09:01 | ST, I agree, it's just all too terrible! Just to be clear though, as I have declared above, this is merely a trade - I have not met the BOD, nor spoken to the brokers, nor am I a "professional High Net Worth individual". Base formation still in tact. :) All in my amateurish opinion. | kemche
05/2/2016 07:35 | Sale of AKRON brass so where does that leave PFL? They say profits similar to recent guidance and this is what they said in last TS.. "profits at lower end". With dividend to be rebased there could be another cut to come imo. Still a lot or risk. | simon templar qc
21/1/2016 12:33 | Too much debt kemche! | simon templar qc
08/1/2016 08:59 | Base formation coming along nicely - IMHO. | kemche
07/1/2016 13:28 | Taken a nibble for a trade. Strength on a day like today and a possible bottoming? All IMHO. | kemche
18/12/2015 23:58 | Yes but what is the purpose of posting it over and over again, I don't remember you posting it when KCOM was falling. So far my call has been wrong on PFL, I continue to hold (with a paper loss) and am happy to do so for the long term as I think I will be rewarded. | eastbourne1982
18/12/2015 08:08 | My post was simply a repeat of your post, sorry you found that embarrassing. | rcturner2
17/12/2015 19:35 | RCTurner2, Are you nine years old ?? or is that the first stock market call you have ever got right ?? Your posts are an embarrassment. | eastbourne1982
17/12/2015 16:47 | I concur with this view too risky and final dividend could well be cut... | simon templar qc
17/12/2015 16:32 | Am a bit suspicious of the dramatic turnaround in Akron just before its sale! | simon templar qc
17/12/2015 14:28 | lol - naughty | my retirement fund
17/12/2015 14:26 | According to Proactive sales would have been down over 2% but for sales of Raspberry. Strange rebound in Akron Brass just before its sold! Just less than a profit warning overall. Still risky on sales. The sale of Akron will help pay down debt but sales will fall as a consequence. | simon templar qc
17/12/2015 14:22 | Eastbourne1982 21 Sep'15 - 15:48 - 437 of 497 0 0 RCTurner2, I've just had a gander at KCOM. As of today: PFL is £1.0465 KCOM is 90.625p I don't see much appeal in KCOM, yes the dividend is good however there is no point having a decent dividend if the share price looks toppy, profits are fairly low and revenue has flat lined. I'd far rather be buying PFL as of today, we will find out which offers the best return over the coming months / years. | rcturner2
17/12/2015 14:04 | two questions why is kcom going up and whats it gotta do with Farnell | my retirement fund
17/12/2015 13:45 | KCOM now 118p and heading up. | rickyy
17/12/2015 13:20 | Difficult one this. Something a bit fishy, but only scanned TU. US sales badly down Akron Brass well up. Doesn't make sense! | simon templar qc
17/12/2015 12:30 | KCOM now 117p. | rcturner2
17/12/2015 09:52 | The market wasn't expecting much hence the rise, I'm holding these and am a few % down now however I genuinely believe there is a lot of value to be had here under £1 and believe there could be a 100% return here within the next 3 - 5 years when you combine share price growth and dividend payments. Interesting to see what they realise for Akron Brass, any ideas of valuation ? If they can bring the debt down significantly which I feel they should be able to you are left with a very underrated business imho. | eastbourne1982
17/12/2015 09:51 | It was close wasn't it, they see to have missed by the skin of their teeth on the back of Q3 markets treading water however the global turmoil in Q3 will show up in Q4 | my retirement fund
17/12/2015 07:14 | Just short of a profit warning. Won't cheer the market. | bertie bee2 |
