13/6/2008 17:25 | I was one of the lucky ones, would admit it was luck & not so much judgement. It hng around just over £1.10 for too long. Can only point to mangement for this outcome. The UK companies in the portfolio are some of the best of the best. Imho Management ran the fund for the fee and didn't have the commercial snouse to extract maximum value nor the desire to serve PI interests. Good luck all. | timtom2
12/6/2008 15:53 | I sold out of PDT a while back after many years of patience .... once again small investors were screwed. I can not see any positive side to whats happened. The Portfolio was worth a heck of a lot more than that.....its another sad day for the investment world and the type of thing that has driven investors out of the market. CRA look good and should go a lot further. My largest holding is in BVC BATM Telco Systems. If you are looking for a well run company with very solid fundamentals this is well worth looking at IMHO. Thanks to Rivaldo and Ornage and others ..... | fse
12/6/2008 12:25 | Darron, What do you make of AEX at this level? I won't ask you about Falcon!!!! My CRA are coming good at long last, and in all this despair in markets, it's nice to have one hitting new highs. I'm trying to buy WTH at the moment, where there is cash and land nearly double the share price tiltonboy | tiltonboy
12/6/2008 12:19 | Well, there it is. The liquidation vote was passed. A sad end to what could have been so much more. Still, at least it frees up a goodly amount of cash to p away errr I mean invest in some of th ebargains in the market at the moment ;-) Always look on the bright side etc etc. Cheers all. | swalker
11/6/2008 21:47 | I second Tiltonboy's thanks to all those who have posted so well The silver lining is that it is good to have cash to exploit what may soon be bargains | cerrito
11/6/2008 20:41 | Au revoir. It just leaves me to thank rivaldo and others that posted news items on this board, and which at the end of the day were all in vain. A disappointing conclusion, with the directors shouldering a lot of the blame for the poor result. | tiltonboy
10/6/2008 19:49 | Why wait until tomorrow? I've got plenty of good news today: ZBD has released the latest addition to its family of electronic point of purchase displays The EPOP 300, developed in response to customer demand, expands the choice of display sizes on offer from ZBD and, for the first time, gives the option of employing high-impact promotional colour. DisplayLink to work with WiQuest DisplayLink, specialist in network display technology, and WiQuest Communications, supplier of complete WiMedia Alliance standardised Wireless USB solutions for worldwide PC OEMs, said they collaborating on interoperability and high performance optimisation of graphics transmission using DisplayLink's USB technology and WiQuest's production Wireless USB technology. Polatis Inc., a supplier of high performance optical switch technologies, said it is moving into the Professional A/V market with its Trinity all optical routing switch. Photonic switching has been the standard in other applications but this is the first time it will be available to the Pro AV market. The move comes as fiber transport for high bandwidth video, audio and data is becoming more widespread in Pro A/V applications. Large venues such as stadiums, corporate and college campuses as well as medical centers are implementing fiber infrastructures. Therefore a more reliable and high performance switch, which can remotely route signals to disparate destinations is required. 07/5/2008 11:57 | Blott - From the 1 May announcement - "On Winding-up... Shareholders would receive approximately 86p per Share under the Proposals, of which it is expected that approximately 85.2p per Share would be paid by 20 June 2008 with the balance being payable at a later date (expected to be May 2009) subject to there being no claims under the Sale and Purchase Agreement or otherwise..." | elgordo
07/5/2008 11:53 | Does anyone have an idea of when our shares will be converted into cash at 86p | blott

01/5/2008 12:34 | Dog of an investment, management well rewarded for rather a bad job. Good investments sold cheap - better returns would probably be achieved from low cost run down but this management does not do low cost. | flying pig
01/5/2008 12:30 | A less generous person might suggest quasi-theft of shareholders funds and lack of fiduciary duty considerations. | flying pig
01/5/2008 11:57 | HVS - "many bargains to be had" SW - "a lot of other value out there " - yes, many stocks look cheap, but if the Market tips over again (& there are many grey-haired & experienced commentators who believe it may - including me!) then cheap will look markedly less so 3months down the track. Personally I'm 50% cash/near cash & more undecided than I've been for a long time. I can recommend INH for a secure 6.8% to redemption in 11months time; also NPE for an oily play where a new investor has v. recently paid a premium of 45% for just a 5% stake. I also share a few ideas which Rivaldo here is in accord (FIO & TRI for two). Do you mind if I ask which bargains you are considering. | skyship
01/5/2008 09:42 | Hi Riv/HVS. Asa you say, most disappointing really since there are some good companies in the portfolio but the problem has always been the selling, something I've banged on about to Bob in the past and why I voted against the early Continuation of the trust that time. My rationale was that the management hadn't provided the evidence to justify it. I was prepared to wait till the CV was originally due and if the management had proved value then I'd have voted to continue. If not then a wind up. This investment has been very costly from an opportunity cost point of view if not an actual loss. I was one of thos approached for my views in Jan re the change in strategy. I was also one of those who have voted for the quick exit. I'm sure it leaves value on the table but there's a hell of a lot of other value out there right now so a boost to the war chest is most welcome. I'm not sure a drawn out wind up would have been any better so this is the best of a bad situation imo. | swalker
01/5/2008 07:40 | Hi rivaldo, Yes, not abad exit price. I am sitting on quite a loss but happy to get out and re-invest elsewhere, many bargains to be had. | hvs
01/5/2008 07:24 | I suppose that given the circumstances management has achieved a resaonable price for the portfolio. However, this has been a very poor investment for shareholders - the return for management on the other hand has been superb. | cs44
23/4/2008 16:16 | The share price appears to be trending up (strangely enough). News on the horizon? Nice Dutch Googling Orange1 - one-nil to you :o)) Some bits and pieces I found interesting... ZBD have recruited a CFO - normally the action of a company in expansion mode: "ZBD Displays, the supplier of EPOP wireless e-paper displays, has appointed Carl Plucknett as chief financial officer." And DisplayLink march on: "DisplayLink Provides Core Technology for Lenovo Enhanced USB Port Replicator Posted : Tue, 15 Apr 2008 14:22:11 GMT PALO ALTO, Calif. - (Business Wire) DisplayLink today announced that it is providing core USB graphics functionality in the new Lenovo Enhanced USB Port Replicator with Video. DisplayLink's pioneering hardware and software enables high-speed transmission of video and graphics over an ordinary USB 2.0 cable. This enables universal USB port replication, which allows users to enjoy the benefits of docking a notebook PC through a single USB connection. "From its legendary ThinkPad notebooks to its powerful docking stations and accessories, Lenovo is a standard-setter in the PC industry," said Dennis Crespo, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at DisplayLink. "They are an important new customer for us that will make DisplayLink technology available to a wide range of PC users."" An excellent review here: "Verdict Right now, though admittedly by mere dint of being the only sports car on the block, the Flatron L206WU is the Ferrari of DisplayLink-enabled monitors. Even as a 'normal' monitor this LG would be acceptable value, but until more competition comes along using DisplayLink, it is an absolute steal! Offering above-average image quality, impressive adjustability and an enjoyable movie and gaming experience, this screen has a lot going for it. And when you throw in the DisplayLink functionality, it's clear why this LG walks away with a Recommended award." | rivaldo

22/4/2008 17:48 | Which European country has a lot of greenhouses and a lot of migrant workers to keep an eye on? The answer is to be found in today's press release from Grean Peak (nee Xanadu Wireless): GreenPeak Powers Wireless Greenhouse of the Future Kronos Selects GreenPeak's Low-Power Mesh Technology for Mobile Harvesting Carts UTRECHT, The Netherlands--(BUSINE Hortimax, a Kronos VAR (value added reseller), is active in greenhouse harvesting management systems. In one of their projects, a harvest administration system is used to monitor the activity and location of individual mobile harvesting carts. This solution is based on the Kronos wireless terminal and uses GreenPeak's wireless mesh technology to transmit data from individual mobile harvesting carts to routers, which enables the data to be gathered and analyzed in a central coordinator unit. The wireless technology allows the monitoring of individual pickers' efficiency. Compared to the old situation, where only the average picking weight per corridor and not per individual picker was known, the new system was able to increase overall greenhouse productivity by 15%. The ability to track which areas have been harvested and how much has been picked also enables greenhouse operators to quickly implement corrections in spraying and fertilizing patterns and scheduling, thereby allowing for a richer harvest. The system can also improve other greenhouse logistics such as scheduling of the packaging unit and just-in-time transportation to market, which results in better cost control. A key factor in Kronos' decision to select GreenPeak's wireless networking technology was its excellent performance in radio unfriendly environments. GreenPeak's multi-hop, mesh technology enables each wireless sensor and actuator device, utilizing integrated mesh software, to act as a repeater for other wireless devices even if one or more are blocked by metal, dense foliage or high humidity levels. The sensor nodes form a mesh network by sending messages through intermediate nodes from source to destination. This approach enables the network to span larger distances (even when individual nodes can only see a local area of the network), allowing site-wide wireless coverage throughout the greenhouse. "We first tested WiFi, but the radio coverage in the greenhouse was not satisfactory," said Alain Van der hoeven, VP Marketing and Business Development Kronos Western Europe, "We also tried a ZigBee solution from one of GreenPeak's competitors, but that failed because transmission from mobile devices (the harvest carts) was not supported. On top of that, the local support was below our expectations, so we scouted the market again for a better supplier. We found that GreenPeak is the only company that can provide a wireless mesh network solution that really works and is well supported." Kronos has been working with GreenPeak for more than a year now, but GreenPeak's technology advantage was not the only differentiator. According to Alain Van der hoeven, "In addition to GreenPeak's expertise and outstanding competence in the IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee area, we also appreciate their high level of customer support and responsiveness. We enjoy working with their team, and we have built a partnership, rather than a customer/supplier relationship. I'm confident we will continue working with GreenPeak for other wireless applications as well." 22/4/2008 17:34 | Kiadis announced last week that they are still hopeful of a listing this year but that they have ruled out a listing before the summer. Alternative sources of funding are being explored (a fund raising from private investors or a link up with a big pharma). A number of big pharmas have shown a keen interest according to MD Manja Bouwman. Note to Rivaldo: you have to go to news.google.nl to get that info! :-) | orange1 |
