the knight of no: Interesting piece in teh Times today about the rise of zoonotic infections and potential pandemics. Bats apparently teh culprits here, making up a fifth of all mammals and carrying bags of these coronavirus microbes. Mice have teh hantaviruses, chimpanzees brought us HIV but bats have teh market in SARS. And apparently scientists have traced much of teh well of infection down to a cave in China. I'd have thought one of those air burst weapons would do a splendid job, frankly. The other interesting point they made was that it isn't in teh interests of Big Pharma to develop drugs for influenzas etc except on a reactive basis. Far better to develop a diabetes drug that has to be taken daily for teh rest of days than a treatment of a few days that probably won't be used again. When Gilead developed a Hepatitis C cure, the market marked its share price down!

varies: The relentless decline in our share price is indeed depressing. I would like to receive a report of further progress soon (if there is any)but see that in both 2017 and 2018 results for the year to 30 June were not announced until November. I regard these shares as dirt cheap but do not have the courage to buy more without further news.

jeffian: #5598, I would be less cynical if these aggressive American funds hadn't taken substantial short positions just before airing their opinions. I've just been through this with RPC, which was trashed by Northern Trust and was subsequently taken over by an American competitor at a substantial discount to its share price prior to the critical "report". Collusion? Surely not!

varies: wigwammer You could well be right ; the share price performance is very depressing and sometimes one simply wants to forget a bad experience and move on. It is certainly easier to do so when an unloved share disappears from one's portfolio. I have often found, however, that this is the worst reason to sell and have seen shares double or treble from the day I sell them in such circumstances. Is there anything fundamentally wrong with Plexus ? I don't think so. The oil service industry is out of favour with investors concerned with climate change but a good part of Plexus's business will relate to securing the sea floor pipework etc of existing wells including those whose reserves are exhausted. Also gas will soon become more important for Plexus than oil. I have been thinking for some time of increasing my holding again, throwing good money after bad perhaps. Perversely your sale persuades me to do so now !

prambigear: #3949 It's like a bit of company news that doesn't immediately get noticed or affect the share price but is important nevertheless. We Tories got rid of Heidi Allen, Sarah Wollaston and the gurning Anna Soubry woman all in one go. Now, how good is that!
