so circa 6% up today if we include divi.one of the reasons why it almost never pays to second guess the mkt.those who sold out yesterday hoping to buy back cheaply would have been worse off

Falling treasury yield 10 year 1.60%, help push gold through psychological $1800 barrier first time since February.Looks like we heading towards $2000.

Agreed Monty. As I've said here before everyone to their own techniques, interpretation and risk criteria. No one gets it right all the time. Anyone who hasn't gained here in the last few days is trying too hard or just very unlucky. Well done to everyone who has and fair play to those brave enough to jump in last minute for divi day. You may have got away with one, you just be good. Either way it doesn't matter. One things for sure this should be one cheery board!

Perhaps try reading it again? Its an example using a list from my scanner, I record them in a google sheet, so no stops have been executed, they are not actual trades, its simply data for the purpose of demonstration, duhh!

"We'll assume a £5k position is taken in each trade and a 10% (£500) stop loss is used.

We'll further assume all 66 losing trades have triggered their £500 stop for total losses of £33k"

Seems like an almighty lot of effort that totally fails to get anywhere near my own 'gut instinct' + one easily assimilated indicator method. I know what I prefer, my 'method' is infinitely more profitable.. and far less work.

Yes, of *course* you do. Do they run forever, your winners? How then do you end up with a 38% loss, if the downside is "limited"? Perhaps it is limited to 39%?

More drivel from Numpty Trader536 today I see- touting 1400 only recently, not a clue. All he does is look at his historical charts, he really is the tool with a tool- a multitude of factors are at play, we know that, but for some reasons he constantly ignores them- although I do now see him post the odd thing that can impact which shows despite all his vitriol he is listening and learning from these boards- shame he lacks the basic comprehension to apply them.

Well that's a pleasant surprise - was wondering how much the share price would lose on XD day last night - didn't foresee a positive finish.

It's not all that surprising. At today's prices being used for the average for the year, EPS for 2021 would be £1.70 or thereabouts.

Which means an earnings multiple of 9.5 - after today's rise.

And a dividend yield (based on last year so 2021 actual will be higher as EPS will be higher) of 5.93%.

This is fatuously, stupidly, farcically undervalued.
