I think Philly have found this pretty tricky to trade. And have made very little, if anything out of this even though they have had a short bias since 2014. They caught it right when it fell from 1600p to 1100p over a year back, but added to the short at 570p a few months back, which has cost them 60% including divs. Like the analysts, not sure they really have much of an idea (or if they do, as we have all read, not great ones).

Thats the question Stoxx and its a quandry tbh..here's the mix Based solely on fundamentals we are in the region now, but depends on dividend. We have nearly 9% total short so a massive amount of buying pressure as these reduce, especially if dividend is circa 65p on results as forecast so could easy rocket to 1200 and dont be surprised if their are more director buys around the corner PS Technically I have resistance at 955 (which we've just bounced off) but once through Im getting 1145

I think Plus continue to buy their own shares because they have decided not to buy the opposition. They don’t need to as a healthy part of the opposition is folding, something which is becoming apparent in the numbers. This was pretty well part of the Hanbury thesis. This might also bode well for CMC and IG, though I have no positions there.

The perception of the market, right now, is that it’s worth 950p. Tomorrow, that perception might change. If we knew what tomorrow’s perception was going to be a priori, then it would be today’s perception with a different price. But we don’t. Neither you, me, mnomis or Bob Dylan. This stock has been anywhere between 200p and 2,100p the past 3 years. One thing‘s for sure - the analysts really have no idea. Hanbury seems to have a good call on it - he added at around 700p a year ago and it appears not to have sold (rebalanced) ever after. Earned decent dividends at the same time. My own view is that it is about right at this price. I sold my purchases of last year at a maximum of 940p. But I still hold via Hanbury’s fund as his analysis is still strongly positive.

If some banks, allegedly, are in trouble with uncovered debt, I'd have thought this may be a good place for a few months. The level of the price is irrelevant, assuming it's not decreasing.

Er, no - Odey own a large slice of the company and is the largest holding in James Hanbury’s Odey funds.

Odey continue to be more positive than the analysts. The latter have never shown any understanding of the long term issues important to PLUS.
