All I could find was sign up to become a private client. Is that what you mean or is there a newsletter?

You can register on the Odey website or PM me your email. Divs they state that will pay atleast 60% of retained profit every year but generally end up paying much more than that

The route to £60 must surely travel through Singapore. I am not saying that I think such a target is likely or even realisable, but I suspect that to get there Odey are expecting great success from their base presence in Asia.

I suppose my main concern is that the bigger and more successful they become, a bigger magnet they also become to various developing regulation. Hence as the price rises again and again, I sell bits and pieces along the way. But that is just a function of my risk appetite, not to optimising absolute profit. I will leave that for those braver than me.

Some interesting commentary on Odey's Q1 transcript re. Plus500. They have a PT of £60 , much more optimistic than I am but will be very glad if they are right! They estimate 60% of Plus's clients could be classified as professional. Sounds like an extremely high expectation as 60% is a number IG expects. And I would imagine IG does have a more professional client base than Plus just looking at ARPUs.

Not for now. Worth pointing out that Odey last reported a reduction in holding on April 26th. Since that time, the share price has risen from 1417p to around 1650p (average today). So that would be a 16% or so gain. So they are once again a bunch over their limits and, as we have seen and discussed the past weeks, likely to be selling right now.

And once they have let another 500,000 or so shares go, it may rise by 150p or so (all else being equal) before they are selling again. Today’s action seemed to fit the pattern of such previous sales, to the best of my rather quick scan of the situation.

Ex date was Feb 22nd and pay date is July 23rd.

In 2017, interim ex div date was Sep 7th with a pay date of Nov 23rd.

2 dividends, if they keep up the % of profits as they have previously then this interim is likely to be the biggest yet. Last ex-divi was a week after results announced.

I thought the Ex-Div date was 22.02.18 and payment was due on 29.06.18? Maybe I'm wrong?

No worries! Yeah there is always a risk with trying to market time. If your in it for the long haul may as well buy and hold (stress free) and do the extra work to get the 10% off the div

The risk I suppose is something happens to cause a significant underlying rise between the sale and re-purchase points (today for example!). Thanks for your views - I read a lot of your earlier posts (as well as those from others) before deciding to wade in on Plus500.

Well just considering efficient market theory, else if it was a repeatable pattern and it fell by more than tax adjusted div, one should always sell the stock prior to ex-div and buy it after (and vice versa if it doesn't fall as much). Of course not as straightforward in this case given how long after the pay date is and the hastle of applying for rebate. It never ends up being an exact science. Regardless my guess with plus is investors sell before ex-div and get back in after due to delay in payment and the hastle of applying for 10% rebate

aakash30, exactly - I've never seen such a big delay in payment before. Intrigued that you say price should drop by tax adj divi rather than whole divi (gross). I would have thought it would be the latter as the gross amount of cash has left the company regardless of whether taxes have been paid to governments or not?
