25/5/2010 16:52 | glad i sold out yesterday at 42. fig. | fig1
25/5/2010 13:13 | Thanks Jules, Yes, I think Aussie low 60s-high 50s beckon unfortunately since there's no news scheduled till August. Meanwhile, I've suggested JL make the most of the lull to reconnect with UK investors. Sure, we are a rare breed and are probably playing a very small role in the share price decline, but I think we are owed some time and reassurance from the company. | doshdabbler
25/5/2010 13:02 | dosh... as far as I understand it... that will be the case and your holding will be registerd with the ASX so they know you own the shares. It will be a case of choosing a broker at the right price to sell them when you wish. good luck:-) ps.. Hope you are seriously wrong about mid 39's.... I see low 70's - 60's!! ( oz market that is) | justjules
25/5/2010 12:51 | Thanks jules, always good to know there are other views out there. PLAA is a lonely old place right now, but I agree, AIM has no place in PLAA's future. Actually, my share price target is mid to low 30s is it stands right now. Arghhh PS Will Computershare hang onto my shares indefinitely until I decide to sell them? In other words, if I do nothing, will they gently transfer to Oz while I decide which broker to choose? | doshdabbler
25/5/2010 12:48 | doshdabbler...... Plaa will go down while the market is in fear zone.... just like everything else!!! Your target of low 40's??.... may well be, if the eurozone doesn't sort itself out.............howe By the way ... the oz market is not falling because of the aim situation.. it is falling because the global market situation is cr*p | justjules
25/5/2010 08:00 | Not looking good in the short term. Any of the old Ridge Mining brigade tempted to take a punt here if it goes much lower? I'll wait to add now at around 36p. I too think this will bounce sharply. Lots of shorting in OZ, no news for two months, jittery markets and UK investors throwing in the towel have no bearing on fundamentals, which I believe will only get stronger with Kalplats and don't forget Rooderand. A fantastic opportunity to load up on a valuable asset, backed by Soros, at rock bottom prices - but when to buy? | murrayteller
25/5/2010 04:48 | UK investors started bailing out yesterday and it's having a knock-on effect on the ASX. We should see sub-40p very soon, then who knows? Surely institutions are watching this very carefully for an entry point. It will bounce sharply, but from where? 35p? 25p? | doshdabbler
24/5/2010 12:47 | You still hold PLAA on the ASX if you use TD Waterhouse. Unfortunately my ISA holdings of PLAA are through Jarvis, with them I believe it is more difficult. | red ninja
24/5/2010 12:44 | What a monumental waste of time and money this 'investment' has proved to be. And then they go and dump on UK investors with not a care. Shameful. | drewz
24/5/2010 09:14 | I did hold on AIM and the ASX but have sold my AIM lot apart from my ISAs. The ones held in OZ I will be keeping, I had always intended to hold a reasonable position until Kalplats was up and running. But with the recent markets and without taper relief and the prospect of 40-50% cgt there seems less point to hold in the UK? | chartsmart
23/5/2010 08:20 | Thanks chartsmart. It's so helpful having someone go through it before. Are you sticking with PLA on the ASX? I've as many shares as I need and I'm content to stick with it for the medium term, so I guess the delisting won't have any effect till I decide to sell. I've had positive feedback from the company and I'm confident this will see the equivalent of a pound again. Just goes to show how insignificant AIM is to PLAA. No posts on iii and just a few here. It's worth saving a hundred grand a year for. Also thanks sg. While my shares are held by computershare, I'll have time to shop around for the best broker. I really think this is positive for PLAA and will make them a more focussed and attractive proposition. AIM is a laughing stock of a market | doshdabbler
22/5/2010 13:57 | Barclays will let you trade ASX shares but it is really expensive.TDW are much cheaper. | sg31
22/5/2010 10:55 | dosh it depends who you hold with at the moment, I dont think barclays will do it. I currently hold with TDW who allow dealing on the ASX and other international exchanges. TDW do not to the best exchange rates but they allow you to hold in different currencies. My last experience of this before holding an international account was with CLIO - cape lambert iron ore which was dual listed on AIM and OZ but delisted from AIM. In that case the 2 choices were to sell or to have the holding kept by computershare australia. This holding was checkable online via the computershareaus website but was untradeable. however computershareaus will hold them for as long as you want until you open an account that allows international trading and transfer your holding. hope that helps. Its the ISA problem im not sure about yet. | chartsmart
22/5/2010 10:31 | Whoa, I didn't expect that. andyfrei, yes I think the price will head down a bit, but frankly there are no big holdings in the UK so I don't expect it to have much impact. So who's sticking with it? I guess I'm gonna have have to cos there's no way I'm gonna to be able flog 350k of these without taking a massive hit. At least there'll be more liquidity on ASX. Good question though dosh. What happens when you sell in Oz and want to send the cash back to Blighty? | murrayteller
22/5/2010 05:20 | Didn't see that coming but it's probably a good thing. AIM is a waste of time and money for PLAA. But so many questions. Will I be able to trade them through Barclays on the ASX or will they transfer to another nominee account in Australia? What are the tax implications? If I sell and repatriate my proceeds, do I pay huge currency exchange and money transfer charges? Anyone know about ASX investing from abroad? | doshdabbler
21/5/2010 18:16 | Whats going to happen to the AIM share price over the next month then, is it going to go down due to people selling out prior to the AIM listing closure? | andyfrei
21/5/2010 12:53 | looks like i wont be buying back after all | chartsmart
21/5/2010 10:22 | I'd be surprised if they do dip under 40, the fundraising and Soros have created a support there, but one thing I have learnt over the years is never to fight a falling market, if they do dip back there I will pick up more, long term plaa still has serious potential. | chartsmart
21/5/2010 08:48 | Have you spoken to the company jimmy? That's not what they say | murrayteller
21/5/2010 08:45 | Smokey Hills is nowhere near sorting itself out More like: PGMs plummet as Smokey begins to show cracks | jimmyjagger
21/5/2010 08:44 | I'll take another 100k of these if they dip below 40p. Not impossible in this market. The plat price is not taking into account that car demand is rising almost everywhere, even the UK. It will do when the focus switches from Europe back to China | murrayteller
21/5/2010 04:48 | Yes, just our luck. PGMs plummet as Smokey begins to sort itself out | doshdabbler
19/5/2010 12:57 | still here murray but I have sold a lot off over the last few weeks just holding a couple of key positions in oil companies and cash waiting for sentiment to turn. not much to say really the last rns made it fairly clear how long the delay would take to get SH up running again, I assume they will reach full production as PGMs tumble...... | chartsmart
18/5/2010 07:24 | PLAA appears to be a lonely old investment these days. Where are my fellow sufferers? I'm still confident for the medium term, since 'when' Smokey gets up to speed, PLAA gets to cream all the profits for the next two years and Kalplats is thrown in for free. The short term, on the other hand, looks seriously ugly with no news to come and a jittery market to contend with. Over on Hotcopper, one poster reckons Soros could well be behind all the shorting. With Pt prices still firm, why the hell should PLAA be the victim of so many short positions? This was also the case before the disappointing quarterly. Curious. | murrayteller |
