26/2/2010 11:21 | $126,179,903 Net assets, costs of $340 revenue of $740 per ounce, with 115,000 oz per annum. $23M operating profit per half with a company worth less that £180M...write downs done it all looks good | dodge meister
24/2/2010 11:03 | Soros still adding - now more than 38m shares | doshdabbler
19/2/2010 10:32 | It seems to me, that the market has become one big manipulation. What's the point in careful research, and good fundamentals, when the shareprice can just be sent in any direction according to some behind the scenes activities that none of us can know about? This was supposed to be a steady growth story....but this two steps forward, three steps back (drip, drip, drip), is driving me nuts! | worraps
19/2/2010 09:24 | Drip drip drip. Looks like a simple accumulating strategy | murrayteller
17/2/2010 14:50 | Strange that miners have soared while PLAA has slipped over the past few days. | doshdabbler
16/2/2010 19:01 | In terms of early stage miners you might want to consider Maghreb Minerals. They're looking to JV a zinc/lead mine in Tunisia whilst developing a wholly owned fluorspar mine. It's a logical punt based on rising zinc/lead prices and a joint venture partner coming on board. They're currently in a closed period and an announcement is expected on a JV partner early March. I've done a little write up on the MMS board if you're interested. | steady6
16/2/2010 18:27 | Yes, George Soros's large stake is curious. There are a few early miners that have promise, so it's interesting that he has chosen PLAA. Smokey Hills has been slow and arduous in getting to production, but Kalplats will be the jewel in the crown. We're looking at another 18 months to 2 years away for that, and that may be optimistic. The DFS in due in March. If you click on the website above, and find the latest presentation, that should give you the latest facts. | worraps
16/2/2010 13:23 | Wow this board is quiet. I used to be in RDG and am still on the sidelines with PLAA. The Soros stake intrigues me, but I'm not hugely impressed with the scale of Smokey Hills and Kalplats looks a long way off. Anyway, has anyone got any views on the medium term here? What kind of timeframes are we looking at for Kalplats, Rooderand etc? Is PLAA really worth more than £190m at this stage? Oh and please forgive my ignorance, but how close to a BFS is a DFS? At Ridge, they went from prefeasibility to bankable. Would really appreciate any thoughts. Thanks | recompense
11/2/2010 09:23 | thanks fellows . Am tempted to buy a few on Uk market but I just hate MM stocks . I see platinum price is starting to edge up again . | arja
11/2/2010 09:20 | click on the header of this thread and it takes you through to the pla website. there are a series of minor press releases on the asx which do not get released in the uk. | astonv8
11/2/2010 09:19 | For changes in holdings you need to see the news releases on PLAA's website or go to the ASX website (ticker code PLA) which has all the announcements. There have some reductions by a couple of institutional holders but these have been dwarfed by buying from The Quantum fund. IMHO, a huge vote of confidence in the management and prospects of PLAA. | pecker1
11/2/2010 09:03 | where did you get that information please ? Wish I had bought a few more on oz markeyt last night as it hit 110 before retreating but too tired to stay up ! | arja
10/2/2010 01:00 | George Soros' Quantum fund bought almost 4 mill PLA in the last few days. He is one of the best stockpickers on the planet ! quite re-assuring. | astonv8
09/2/2010 19:21 | Kalplats + other projects - could be the company make and if it comes off I think someone will put in a bid for this company. | apavlovic
09/2/2010 14:19 | Wow, Quantum is keen. They could have picked a selection of PGM stocks but keep filling up with PLAA. I wonder why they like this particular story so much | doshdabbler
09/2/2010 08:02 | Soros upped his stake again... nice | justjules
05/2/2010 07:29 | justjules, yes indeed and i do that normally . MMs here are so greedy that they even cut their own throats with the wide spreads as it creates illiquidity and LOW volumes!! PLA retraced to 100 in oz in the mini bloodbath there . | arja
04/2/2010 09:35 | Fantastic institutional buying. Stock is passing into ever safer hands. You can't get a better vote of confidence in PLAA. Time to let the daily/weekly fluctuations run their course before Kalplats shows its mettle | murrayteller
04/2/2010 08:50 | Presumably the three news releases, regarding substantial holdings, were aware of the pothole and delayed progress when taking on their holdings? A confident indicator, if so? | worraps
04/2/2010 08:14 | yeh... much better to trade it in oz... uk.. mm's play the rip off game! | justjules
04/2/2010 07:41 | one of the few stocks to rise in oz to 106 ( 58p equivalent) after hitting 107. chart looks quite good for further progress if dow behaves itself ! | arja
02/2/2010 07:53 | yes, finished at high for the day in oz. | arja
02/2/2010 05:44 | nice finish at $1 | justjules
01/2/2010 23:40 | worraps, thanks . PLA opened higher and hence no chance of a quick trade. But I managed to catch CZA at 208 in auction and sold at 219 - now to bed ! PLA now 95 as i type and i hope it can move a bit higher . | arja
01/2/2010 18:18 | Platinum booming at the moment +47usd. I'd be very dissapointed if we do not spring back a bit | apavlovic |
