08/2/2008 22:47 | Decent trading statement, very nice profit uplift and confirmation why Stephen King didn't respond to my request for information on Guardian a few days ago. I had realised at the end of January that something must be wrong, due diligence had simply gone on too long. Pity as it seemed an excellent deal. The upside as egoi mentions, is that this development now strengthens the B/S significantly in the current climate, and should put a floor under the shares at the current price. I do however believe it may take a bit longer to realise the value of the company due to both market conditions and a lower uplift in earnings than I had previously anticipated through the proposed acquisition. Nice to see that the company didn't take its eyes off the ball though. A hold for me at the moment. O/T I am merely flagging a share that also operates in Quality Assurance and Testing markets (not too disimilar) that has over £10m net cash against a market cap of £7.5m !!! Sounds too good to be true? I've watched it for several years and its illiquid nature and considerable spread have put me off, but yesterday I felt that the time was right to take a small stake. Any concerted buying has the same effect as we witnessed with PHSC during Oct and Nov. I offer it up as an investment idea and you will see that rivaldo's intro explains the rationale. The company is Volvere (VLE) Kind regards, GHF | glasshalfull
08/2/2008 17:09 | Yep , still slightly disappointed that the Guardian deal hasn't gone through as the profits next year would have been even better but at least we know why the share price was suffering. | battlebus
08/2/2008 15:27 | Value will out guys! :) The directors are pleased to announce consolidated Group sales and pre-tax profits (unaudited) for the nine months ended 31 December 2007. Group sales and other income for the nine-month period totalled GBP 3,676,519, representing a 10 per cent increase on the comparative period last year (GBP 3,336,484 to the end of Q3 in 2006). Pre-tax profits for the nine months to 31 December 2007 were GBP 555,108, which is 60 per cent above the comparative figure last year (GBP 384,043 to the end of Q3 in 2006). No need to contact them re Guardian! I'm sure there will be other opportunities and management don't sound too upset in the statement. Also it will leave the finances in excellent health. Papal Power instead of showing off his ignorance might have spent yesterday buying PHSC shares instead. -:) . | egoi
06/2/2008 19:26 | I think it is just a symptom of the current market bb, and the size of the deal meant some slippage. If I get time I will phone them re the Guardian deal. When i fight for a better price, I tend to find it's almost a case of 'negotiating' despite only having an execution only; I'd probably have pitched around 43p. I bought some shares in a little favourite of mine, recently. The online price was 6.1p; I tried 5.75p for 40k and got them. When she came back she said I'd pitched it just right, any more shares or any lower price and I wouldn't have got them. But I get my share wrong too! -:) PS: Apologies to all for the unhelpful 'diversion'. | egoi
06/2/2008 19:10 | Hard to say what is causing the lowly share price but those two trades both sells at 7500 each certainly brought the price down. Tried to buy 10000 today at 42p but the cheapest was 44p so hard to understand what's up ,maybe the current market is the problem. If the Guardian deal wasn't going through we should have heard by now anyhow still very confident about the future of this co. | battlebus
06/2/2008 12:59 | ..........Moving on, back to PHSC anyone got any ideas when we might get news of the completed acquisition. Given that it is the biggest in their history some delay was likely but we are over a month past the target date now. Otherwise as you say BB, the shares are imho cracking value based on fundamentals right now. 06/2/2008 11:12 | egoi, learn to take profits. Thats what share trading is about, buy low, sell high, and buy low again. Had you learned that you could have made money, and be buying back even more now............ egoi - 16 Jan'08 - 17:46 - 314 of 319 Hi guys, I'm still here. There was a temptation to take a few profits at 58p like GHF but I'm actually very happy I didn't as I would probably have bought something else on AIM that would have gone lower anyway - and PHSC is as solid an investment for a struggling market sectorwise as you can get anywhere imho! | papalpower
05/2/2008 23:24 | OK so now we have the market cap at 4.92m, less than a house in Primrose Hill, sure you dont get the views and a nice gloss front door, but what you do get is a company that: Made 364,000 for the six months ending Sept, with 1.547m cash reserves after paying the divi. With forcasts of 5.42m turnover with 890,000 profit to 31.March.08. The acquistions of In House completed and Guardian to be completed total price of 2.45m. Paid for from reserves and cash flow over thenext two years. Some thing aint right!! has trading hit the skids or is there a problem with the Guardian purchase. Any which way I know which one I would choose I think !!!!! | walker10
04/2/2008 16:07 | Nice to see you in these Gelp. Hopefully it will prove to be a well timed purchase. Regards, GHF | glasshalfull
04/2/2008 15:09 | Welcome on board Gelp, a timely purchase that will prove very wise indeed long term. | battlebus
04/2/2008 10:28 | Not many chances to buy sub 50 - have topped up at 47 this am - agree with general comments - nice tightly run operation picking up smaller players and easy integration. | gelp
16/1/2008 18:37 | Great to hear the full team is still intact. Walker everything looks cheap at the moment but prefer to hold cash for a while longer. It's all a matter of timing for which i have no formula. | battlebus

16/1/2008 17:26 | GFH nice to see your still in and as confident as myself.Don't expect to see much improvement in market sentiment for possibly a year ,so i'll be very cautious about buying more. Battle. | battlebus
16/1/2008 17:25 | No havent sold battle nor do I intend to, just been scanning else where bargins abound, waiting for news on the Guardian deal if it drifts much more I will indeed increase. | walker10
16/1/2008 17:09 | Well I'm still in having taken a few off the table at the 58p mark from memory. 20% in a couple of weeks was a nice profit. I did however hold onto the majority and it's almost come back to my initial investment price. Good company in an excellent niche and more importantly I firmly believe in the management having contacted the company a number of times.. I'm trying to resist any top ups in the present climate (but for how long :-) and would suggest that PHSC has many defensive characteristics as it's less exposed to the currently recessionary fears that abound, has a lowly valuation and excellent cash generative qualities. I remain very confident in the medium term. Everything small cap related has taken a battering and now the main index appears to be playing catch up. Buy when there's blood in the streets! Regards, GHF | glasshalfull
16/1/2008 13:54 | Walker have you sold out? I think that we are all missing your info and research.I have sold or taken profit on most of my investments but not willing to sell PHSC just yet.We will soon be testing lows again but who would be brave enough to top up in the current climate. | battlebus
05/1/2008 15:57 | O dear phsc has dropped to 52p and egoi bought at 58p. Catherine zeta jones eh | falundafa
03/12/2007 20:09 | Well Stephen King was as good as his word regarding the "In House" acquisition (see post last week). Hopefully we'll receive confirmation of the "Guardian" acquisition at the end of this month. The company is indeed progressing well. Regards, GHF | glasshalfull
03/12/2007 14:53 | keeps progress going nicely. Forgot about the fallen duffer, drat had him off filter (back on now!) So I guess the chaps at Deed Poll being kept busy, bet they aren't as busy as PHSC though. -;) | egoi
03/12/2007 08:03 | Further to the announcement made by PHSC on 5 September 2007 the directors are pleased to announce successful completion of the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of In House The Hygiene Management Company Limited (IH). | walker10 |
