I think also with these companies they must at some point be viewed as takeover targets by big US players. Aviva especially now it has slimmed down.

My thoughts on LGEN/PHNX was I would far invest in annuity liabilities than actually take out on annuity

This is by far the largest holding in my Income Portfolio, having added heavily when it looked like a chart breakout was due around May 2020 - which luckily then occurred. Comfortable sticking with a decent-sized holding, though, because the capital seems as safe as anywhere else on the LSE and obviously the yield is great. And by the time run off becomes an issue, I figure I won't be around to worry ..

Also recently dipped my toe in at CSN. Similar good yield plus possible acquisition target for PHNX one day.

Such a lof of us... I have benn in Aviva since 2010 at average of 300p. Phoenix since 2015 (avg after trading of £5), but a baby with LGEN atDecember 2018. Thay have all earned me over 10% compounded with "trading" and dividends. Very handy base underlying small caps and mid caps...

If I may join the smug git parade, I've been in LGEN and PHNX since 2016, but not AV or MNG. Am I too late for the latter?

A decade + for me with LGEN & AV, 7 years with PHNX and recently added a comparatively small amount of MNG.

I'm sure there is a massive crossover with investors who have holdings in PHNX, LGEN and AV.

Indeed.....purchase shares......receive dividends.....reinvest dividends........repeat until you retire or beyond.......more money than you get in a savings account or investing in 'magic' shares!!

I have invested in PHNX since June 2017. I also took part in the June 2018 rights issue. It is mainly a "safe" income play and as such has served me well. We will soon know about our next dividend.

PHNX should be throwing off dividends for years to come! I look forward to receiving more and letting the trend continue:

Briggs seems to be working the same “ magic “ (not) that he did at Aviva. Cant work out why they didnt look for someone better, another sub standard journeyman UK lacklustre CEO. No wonder ftse 100 at Dec 1999 level. Pitiful. This will crater ex dividend, better to trade it between dividends, like Direct Line, zero growth.

Yes, interim results due in 9 days' time.

Yield is 7.1%. Expect they'll stick to the 24.1p dividend as paid after last final results. Interim dividend will be payable 3rd Sept.

The US figures do show stark differences between different socio-economic groups and annuity holders are likely to be wealthier and thus healthier than the average population (grim but likely to be true)

All of ours favourite grim subject https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2021/07/21/1018590263/u-s-life-expectancy-fell-1-5-years-2020-biggest-drop-since-ww-ii-covid?t=1626886357564This is for US only - but likely to be similar over here 1.5 years is a big deal in terms of PHNXs solvency ratios Long covid impacts haven't been felt yet; but could be significant too
