11/4/2021 09:22 | Robsy2 :-) Not a bad choice Jonwig - one of mine during lockdown from morrisons 4 for £6, along with...... | skinny
11/4/2021 07:32 | Robsy - shucks, as they say across the pond! But a pint of Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker Yorkshire Bitter, brewed just up the road, would suffice nicely! | jonwig
11/4/2021 06:19 | Morning all Skinny- now i know why you do that! MRF- i’d also be happy to buy Jonwig a drink as well as a way of showing my appreciation for all the great posts over the years. Jw- what sort of drink would you like. Pina colada, pint of mild...? | robsy2
10/4/2021 22:53 | Another way of thinking about it is that DCFs value a companies terminal period earnings into perpetuity Whereas very few companies actually exist into perpetuity So a "zombie" is actually a company that's priced correctly; in that it's not valued into perpetuity Buffet focused on picking those companies (Pepsi and the like) that would exist for a very long time; but it's easier to just buy those that aren't priced to last | williamcooper104
10/4/2021 20:47 | I can see from several responses that I'm the only holder thats bothered, at least it's only me thats bothered enough to speak up, but if its not a zombie, then its not a zombie, so why let it go on being described as such? Its misleading, offputting and wrong - Stuff history. This is a good strong company run by competent people - so why say otherwise? Just a short sharp positive note in the header would make that plain. Im done moaning. seeya. Best of luck all. pete | petersinthemarket
10/4/2021 19:02 | It's always been priced as a zombie (and there's nothing wrong with that - all the PFI/infra funds are basically zombies too), so I've never been that bothered | williamcooper104
10/4/2021 09:30 | Bought back in for the first time since 2017. PHNX never really was a zombie. Sure it had no active selling arm, just provided stewardship for life and pension portfolios. But it made money by driving down the administration costs, so not passive at all. Perhaps they can do a similar thing with Standard Life and create a new highly profitable branch to the business. Overall doubters have been around for as long as I can remember who keep predicting that the profits and hence dividends would dry up. So far it hasn't happened. | grahamg8
09/4/2021 22:51 | Phoenix Group Launches First Dedicated Venture Capital Fund | lauders
07/4/2021 09:06 | Quite pleasing to see much of the XD dividend amount regained back on the share price within just a couple of days. | bluemango
06/4/2021 18:12 | Always my philosophy - the same with posting RNS links- which I do, that disappear from the header quite quickly - but remain as part of the thread chronology for any new viewers. | skinny
06/4/2021 17:57 | Agree with jonwig. Search ability over a long period trumps the thread name. And if potential investors were so easily put off by the thread title, I'd question whether they should be looking here at all. | bluemango
06/4/2021 17:45 | Probably both :-)) | skinny
06/4/2021 17:15 | Set one up yourself peter if it irks you but I won't be posting there as I like jonwig, he's a good mate, must buy him a pint one day and find out if he's Jon from Wigan or Jon the bald man with the wig. | my retirement fund
06/4/2021 16:29 | No - when a thread has over 4000 posts in 10 years on it, it's really useful to be able to search through for past news and comment. ("Search this thread" at the top.) | jonwig
06/4/2021 16:23 | No disrespect mate, but it's misleading and it might worry some folk. I'm a firm holder here. Any chance of setting up a new thread? | petersinthemarket
06/4/2021 13:36 | peter - the thread and header were created on IPO in 2010. I can't change the header, but the term was current ten years ago, rather less used today! Sure, I would have changed it. | jonwig
06/4/2021 13:10 | Why do you call this a zombie fund? The internet doesn't find anything good to say about zombie funds. To me, this looks like a sound business. Would anyone care to elaborate? | petersinthemarket
06/4/2021 07:29 | I always put the xd dates on my calendar; saves panicking. | this_is_me
04/4/2021 21:49 | To be fair, Ned is a boy's name. | zangdook
02/4/2021 18:40 | Thanks Skinny. As you can tell, my observational skills are legendary. Although at least I didn't misgender her ... | bluemango
02/4/2021 15:34 | Post 4411, although I thought she was a he :-) | skinny
02/4/2021 11:45 | No-one else notice non-exec Wendy Mayall buying a cool 10k shares with transaction completed Wednesday, the day before they went XD, at 740p? | bluemango
02/4/2021 09:57 | The shares went XD 24.1p yesterday so actually closed up.Nonetheless, the business section of todays Times notes that the shares suffered "the largest daily fall since November".Financial journalism generally isn't what it was. | steeplejack
02/4/2021 08:18 | IG pay out on xd day, obviously doesn't make much difference as the share price drop reduces your position, hopefully only for a few days :o) | arai
01/4/2021 18:04 | We don't get our dividend until 18th May (A few days after it's approved at the A.G.M.) | this_is_me |
