hey sturm, just a little correction, they are drilling a deviated well without a horizontal section atm, so dont expect such big flush production this time, after that they will drill 3-4 horizontals after the water injector.Cheers :)

Senate isn't left wing and Castillo's options (should he be elected) are limited somewhat + he has stated publicly that he's not going to nationalize anything. Oversold on fear now IMHO. I've sold a tiny (<10%) bit to buy more TXP since that was even more oversold. Next horisontal well is completed this week. (EDIT: it's a deviated well) Just a "reminder" from the first 3 horizontal wells: 3) The BN 95-6H horizontal well (“6H”) came online on April 10, 2020 and is currently producing approximately 5,750 barrels of oil per day (“bopd”), in line with management’s expectations. During these ten days the well has achieved average production of approximately 4,500 bopd. 2) DECEMBER 16, 2019: Initial three‐day production rate at the BN 95-5H horizontal well (“5H”) is 8,250 barrels of oil per day (“BOPD”), exceeding management’s expectations. 1) OCTOBER 21, 2019: Completed the BN 95‐4H (“4H”) horizontal well on time and under budget by approximately $3.0 million using new technology to maximize oil production 4H initial four‐day production rate of 6,200 barrels of oil per day (“BOPD”), exceeding management’s expectations

Thanks for posting that article, but it is inaccurate. Congress has 130 seats not 150 and Peru Libre and Mendoza's group come close to blocking a super majority which means it is quite likely they can.

As the company has said Castillo himself has argued for Peru to get more money from resource plays, he has not called for nationalisation. The Peru Libre ideologue, however, has. We cannot, however, rely precisely on his words. There remain uncertainties.

SPAngel: "Our take: Against the backdrop of significant challenges incurred through the pandemic in addition to civil unrest and the closure of the Bretana oil field in 2020, PTAL has demonstrated admirable operational and financial discipline to end FY20 with a healthy business poised for near term growth in our view. It is likely that the ongoing elections will remain a theme of uncertainty until June’s vote, already impacting the wider economy in Peru. Nevertheless, on a corporate level, the Company’s recently replenished balance sheet has led to a return to development activity at the Bretana oil field, with the next well expected to commence imminently. "This years’ reopening of the Bretana oil field operations will invariably lead to a step change in the Company’s cash flow position notwithstanding a much stronger oil price globally. Indeed, FY21 EBITDA of US$90m is likely to be the bearish case given the current spot and futures market for Brent crude, and we therefore see the Company’s current share price as an attractive entry point."

Another opinion poll https://twitter.com/AmericaElige/status/1385037171879387138 Also puts Castillo in the lead.

There is nothing significant in the results. The business had a bad time in 2020 as with all in the same area. The investment case is based upon what people think is likely to happen in the future.

Very quiet board as no posts on results. This shows PTAL is under the radar.

>Who agrees with me. Which is, of course, a good demonstration of how a democracy works. People don't always agree with each other as is demonstrated on this thread. In Peru people have voted for a range of different presidential candidate and there will be a run off. I remain interested in what happens and if Castillo wins (which on the information we have so far appears most likely) I am not intending to sell my holding. However, "Share prices, their values and the income from them can go down as well as up and investors may get back less than their original investment."

The nub of the issue is a good quality company facing political uncertainty. Anyone investing has to think it is likely that Castillo will win the election. He has actually said he wants investment and we then have the usual question of what is necessary to encourage foreign investment. One of the things that is necessary is some predictability of terms. Hence if a company agrees something with the state then there needs to be certainty that this will continue to be the situation. There is however an election going on and whoever wins (and I don't see it as a walkover for Castillo) will not take office until late July. I would expect the uncertainty to hold down the share price until there is more certainty.

so basically 31mio in cash coming in for sure now, alone paying for 2 producers and one water injector. plus 30% of production guidance secured above 60$\bbl. I topped up a little bit with what I was able to secure out of the panr desaster yesterday.
