will need to see short-tracker reporting other shorts moving down to get the squeeze fully on IMO.....Goldmans reiterating a buy price very materially above current share price does help

I think shorts will attack again, so it's time to take profit.

To think that Rye were adding to their short last week. The arrogance of these people

Jsb on LSE RE: Crazy things happeningToday 06:35Possible trend emerging that UK investors will start to look at the most shorted stocks on our markets. Obviously we haven't got the extreme % of short positions in the UK markets like GameStop which was over 100%, however PFC has been slowly squeezed for years and the share price depressed over 90% and sitting at all time lows. Good sign to see Blackrock reducing and expect to see Rye Bay pulling back prior to results at the end of February.Edmond Jackson draws a good comparison between PFC and WG which have similar order books and PFC with significantly less debt, yet WG has a valuation of x5 that of PFC.The RNS last week was an excuse for the shorts to squeeze the lemon even harder. There was nothing new in the statement to warrant a 40% drop. The potential of any significant fine is priced in here and has been for sometime. A fine considered to be 'light' by the markets or no further action would mark the beginning of a major rerate.

Morning Ray BayeShort squeezes are happening all over the market, largely orchestrated by motivated retail stocks buyers who are explicitly trying to crush Wall Street shorts. The rookie investors are using online chat rooms and websites to garner information and support, pushing these embattled stocks to the brink."What we are seeing is an interesting clash between retail investors and the big institutions," said Delano Saporu, founder of New Street Advisors Group. "The cheerleading and strong emotions from both sides is creating an environment of emotion-based investing."

They just signed a large contract for North Sea ,although not yet RNS'd, so don't think its much of an issue anymore. The news has been known by clients and suppliers etc for nearly 7 years. Legacy issue that shorts have used time and time again to ween out investors.

The current short squeeze on Nasdaq stocks could cause hedge funds all over the world to cover short positions in individual stocks. Shorting is one of the reasons why uk stocks have performed so badly in recent years

The dilemma for Petrofac is the extent of time it has been in the spotlight and whether this will damage contract tendering or renewals, despite management insisting not. I think Covid-19's impact on reducing oil and gas industry activity is probably the more critical factor, although the two could conflate.
