surely if they are hedging and protecting the portfolio that has got to be a positive thing rather than a negative thing?

This is as close as you are going to get to a hedge fund.
The average IT cannot short and at best takes currency hedges in relation to non-Sterling holdings. So while the stuff inside is indeed very public and very liquid, there is potential for increased risk/volatility.

There were also some concerns about the governance, special voting shares and whatnots a couple of years ago when AGT started to pile into this one. I would need to look through the history of AGT's factsheets to show that, but it is there somewhere.

That's the way I see things anyway, I could be wrong.

Decent increase in nett asset value leaves this sitting @ large discount for a FTSE100
listed company
Many investment trusts have a significantly smaller discount and the liquidity is much poorer
Never will understand the markets

It's true there are plenty of places to park it. The blow out between IWN and QQQ shows a strong rotation from big growth to Value. The problem is leverage. If QQQ rolls over and accounts start getting liquidated then it spooks the whole market. It doesn't matter where you hide your money.

Keep in mind Tesla isn't worth even $20 a share in the real world. There is a lot of fresh air under those big growth valuations, it's a long way to the ground and it's when not if.

Personally I'm not too concerned about the discount to NAV at the moment as I'm getting a bargain on sale as I free up funds from elsewhere and add here.

The next big driver is probably the SPAC in the next few weeks/month but the holdings in the portfolio all look to benefit from the recovery. If not, then there's always the hedge to fall back on!

On the topic of the S&P and Nasdaq, I keep reading commentators saying the market's at an all time high, what they really mean is tech/growth stocks. There's still plenty of other places to park our cash :)

no, chart shows that S&P is almost at all time high again and a bit over it's level a month ago and dow at new all time high . Nasdaq seems to be turning but far from certain .

Buoyant markets ?? S&P is up 3.8% YTD and down in the last month. PSH is up 5.3% YTD. seems pretty good to me. Nasdaq is in a technical Bear !

disappointing to see the NTA drop about 40p in today's weekly figure in such buoyant markets and was hoping for a rise of a quid or so ! seems to need that quite big discount .

Got some more @2490 so PSH is now 25% of my portfolio as have been buying every dip since March 2020. I'll probably sell off a few if the SPAC outcome is very successful.

I am looking at three different UK trading sites - and i have holdings in PSH in two of them. £25.95 at this time.

No it's the GBP price. £34.77. $48.45 in USD.

thanks for the info and a nice rally today and , as ceaserxyz points out , there is still a large discount to NAV . My main concern is if the bounce in US indices futures today will be followed throUGH AT 2.30PM when physical opens .
