I think they may have protection against piracy....
...critically important...otherwise their business up in smoke...

to lend a book to someone there is a process apparently....and only runs for 2 weeks....so clearly they can remotely 'take the book back' ! or stop access to it
...I should find out more but a question of time...

No views on share price Only views on dividends, which should increase.

How do you protect an eBook published in the UK from piracy in Vietnam, say? I doubt that it is possible.

Dean
thanks for that reply

You have any views on Pearson share price at the moment...and Pearson's possibilities for this year ?

===

And do you know if ebooks has automatic protection against piracy ?
(recalling the massive loss of sales in the CD sector because of home copying of CDs)
(ie. if one person buys an ebook....is it well protected to stop it being copied to friends etc ?)
And with ebooks....will publishers still be needed ??!!.....authors could load up directly to distributing websites, like Amazon. (although if they wanted to publish in other languages then they would need to pay for translation costs if they wanted to publish themselves.....perhaps they still publishers in order to do marketing etc...)

You have to be holding at the close of business on 5th April, and on 6th April.

Ex-divi date is 6th APril

if you own the shares at 12:00 on 6th april do you receive the divi or not ?

(or to get the divi you need to own at the end of 5th April ?)

so.....

looks at first sight to perhaps be insider trading on Friday....price rise the trading day before a RNS about an acquisition

At least we have the excellent FSA which will investigate and cancel any insider trades and take any needed action

(I am joking of course !)

I'm not one to say really.

We have held for a number of years and are not thinking of selling them for some while. MS and her team have done wonders over the past few years and it would seem from the link above nothing is going to stop them at the moment. AIMHO.

Interesting stuff.

As long termers little need to comment. The company has been doing fine over recent years.
