I already have a fairly large holding in SXX (been in for years).

I'll take a look at the others mentioned, thanks.

IIs are now run by people who can see no further than their end of year bonus.

The big question for them though is, if you do accept a quick short term gain where do you then put that capital in order to get the same sort of growth these were achieving.

Ridiculous price. We need a counter bid, then we might, just might, get somewhere near where this should be - which in my view should be well over a tenner a share....

Hey Ho.

TrentEndBoy might be right. Joel rolls some of his equity into private bidco, do some more M&A then relist in few years (without Asia Gateway dragging on value) and Joel makes another few turns on his equity.. or Joel just wants to monetise his stake now and ride off into the sunset

Company could have sold off Asia Gateway at any point in last couple of years - this was always seen as a major drag on the valuation. Does beg the question why is it only being sorted out at the point an offer is made

A lot of trading activity seems to me to be trying to keep the share price under control so that the offer doesn't appear as ridiculous as it is.

But why would the IIs accept. There's no handsome payoff for them?

Joel and the team will have been offered hansom payoffs and be allowed to continue to run the company privately IMO.

Then they can buy up others even more quickly.

Be a shame to be taken out with this price - clearly the statement hints that they are happy with 590 given the 34% premium spin on this.

It is damning that we are paying a lot more for our latest acquisition than we seem to be accepting for the bid. Terrible outcome for PIs. I have a great profit but was banking on a lot more.

Something not quite adding up with this offer imo - gut feeling! If the FSA had any clout they should be crawling all over this 1) any connections with bidders and blatant recent short manipulation?2) why has the company appeared to accepted such a low offer so easily?3) something very 'stitched up' and 'done deal' about all this!PI's bottom of the pole as usual!!jozo

If management and institutions are selling off dynamic and cash generative UK companies like this on 9 percent premiums then the future really is bleak. And you really need to question their motives.

Uncle Andy, thanks for that. I'm surprised. Why would he not take the view that the company can continue to grow independently?

I don't see the other institutionals going for this. For instance Robert Watts at Old Mutual, an accomplished fund manager would laugh at this offer
