Good old Luke supported Brexit. Current events must be having an impact in the high street.

The SFO are involved because the company's accounts have mis-stated the company's position for the past year or two.... or three. Hard to see how a £40 million plus hole opened up in the accounts since March.

Perhaps...FD AND CEO? After all plenty of shares cashed in this year. Hence SFO.

Perhaps..... CAKE has been suffering trading and cash flow problems like all the high street nosh shops. FD too afraid to tell Luke/Board. Gets O/Ds to help team and lay ....which always catches up with you in the end. Luke too busy elsewhere and perhaps has never been quite the detailed entrepreneur he portrays. (Not a lot different from Conviviality). Luke calls in favours from shareholders,Cannacord, banks etc , provides smoke and mirrors £20m liquidity. It won’t be enough to deal with poor trading and tighter creditor cycles. CVA to follow then administration. Perhaps some parties are able to buy back ummie bits...have their cake and...Sorry!

CAKE scandal reminds me of SFI scandal

both with lots of high street outlets.
with dirs getting rich

& apparently making money & then bam

false accounts & suspended.

SFI becoming owned by its creditors, banks, who I guess then later sold it or part of it

Paul May quits The Restaurant Group...

Embattled Patisserie Valerie boss steps down from The Restaurant Group amid financial fiasco

"Paul May has stood down from his position at the group, which owns brands such as Frankie & Benny's and Garfunkel's, in the wake of mounting pressure within his own cafe chain."

Luke Johnson also pledged to "beef up" its systems and controls, and "make some additions to the senior leadership, particularly in finance". But there is no money .

A bit late now aint it LUKE ????? Why does we English always close the barn door after the horse has bolted why ????

Luke has to shoulder a good amount of the blame..as Exec Chairman

& controlling shareholder

he clearly agreed to the corporate structure & structure at subsidiaries

& noting he is an experienced hands on director & exp. investor & accounts analyst

if he says "I knew nothing", I dont believe him.

hvs I presume that the board did not pass a resolution to open the two bank accounts.

That's the whole point. So it was the banks fault ???

The organ grinder says not me boss it was the monkey that did it. I only give out options to me mates . It wasnt me HONEST .Nice one LUKE.

1 dir. make 1M£ by exercising & selling some share options

I note that we all assume that thecarrested FD knew the accounts were false

so

the FD could have MILLIONS by shorting the shares. (he knew they would collapse in price when the scam was revealed)

If he pays a penalty of say 1/2M to the SFO & avoids prison

perhaps he'll be laughing

with 5-10 £M profit from shorting the shares in a numbered account in Caymen Is. or Switz.
