Hopefully a good chunk of the large machinery & plant could be transferred to Calcatreu. All those pictures years ago now of the new trucks arriving through customs as they had been suffering delays on equipment getting into Argentina.

At least today's announcement tends to suggest that taking the Co Private is off the table. Must confess that's where I thought this was heading. The cash burn here has been off the scale and it must have been tempting for CM to say "enough is enough". Trivial minor observation - still think the share consolidation was a waste of time & money to implement. And seems to have served no benefit to either the Co or us shareholders.

Most have lost money here, but dex appears to have also suffered psychological damage. In order to prevent any further damage to poor dex, I'll keep future thoughts off this thread and just private message the few who are interested in conversing. There's only three anyway. lol

justino, The strategy you outline is the way they are going imo. I think today's announcement is more important than it is given credit for. The mining down in Santa Cruz was always over-hyped and in reality was a 'can of worms'. With hindsight I'm glad that they have stopped chucking money and resources at it. Today's $15m loan gives them the ability to proceed without mining. If they can sell the Cap Oeste resource, continue drilling Calcatreu, cherry pick the best Santa Cruz properties, keep the Chubut and Uruguay properties, they have a decent exploratory portfolio, to explore when time, money and state regulations will allow.

GSG. I think the key is the 300k oz at Cap Oeste. If we can sell it for a sensible sum and clear our debts or maybe do a JV with some cash paid to us, we could then develop Calcatreu. The Calcatreu drilling results weren’t amazing but there’s already 1.2 moz+ there and still potential to get to 2moz. Today’s news at least gives the company a future whereas yesterday I felt it’s days were numbered.

Agreed. They can now focus 100% on being an explorer and developing the Calcatreu deposit. IMO this is the best possible strategy for the here and now, which gives the company a proper focus. They do seem to have faith that the Calcatreu deposit will come good. If they can monetise some of the Santa Cruz properties, including flogging Cap Oeste, they can hopefully get the company onto a proper footing as an explorer.

Fair play to Carlos. He’s backing the company with his own money and risk. Also puts us in a stronger position when negotiating potential deals as we won’t look desperate for cash. He must believe in Calcatreu.

$15m loan facility from Miguens. You have to give him credit for sticking with it.

Very mediocre results, best intersection just over 50 gram-meters, and a small clutch of piddly sub-5 gram-meter intersections. Nothing to excite, and crucially potential funders are not exactly going to be mobbing them, especially after so much cash has been blown in recent years. I don't normally irritate people by posting on stock threads I'm not in, so apologies to holders. It's all a far cry from the excitement of Esquel and the promise of HPD. Boy have they missed Marc Sale.

It would not bother me if they could somehow sell up all of the land holdings in Santa Cruz and put everything into developing Calcatreu. Looks to me like that will be the strategy.

If they could sell or do a JV with the 300k oz high grade at Cap Oeste that could potentially fund getting Calcatreu into production. But right now it seems like a big if.

These are too cheap now surely? Any other stock with a gold discovery would have multi bagged. That's a non producing gold stock aswell

So what now, for the way forward? Drill results showing we can find gold, just don't make good decisions on the production side.

Used to trade this around 2008. Always had the impression then Miguens would take it private at some point. Great resource. And great management once. Not followed too closely over last few years but someone deserves shooting. Good luck all.

“Christopher van Tienhoven, CEO commented: "We are pleased with the improved levels of production at Cap Oeste as a result of the successful installation of the new crushing and agglomeration circuit installed last year. Despite the current difficult economic situation in Argentina and the impact that the reintroduction of the export tax will have on our bottom line, from a technical point of view we have a lot to look forward to: progressing Calcatreu, evaluating and proceeding with the high-grade deposit underground at Cap-Oeste and potential positive results from our other exploration activities." Sept 2018 “The Company is currently reviewing the planned production from Cap Oeste and Lomada for 2019 and plans to announce this guidance by 31 March 2019. The Company continues to review alternative opportunities to extract value from the COSE-style hypogene mineralisation, which lies below the completed open pit and which is estimated to hold approximately 300,000 oz AuEq at 20 g/t AuEq.” Jan 18 2019 Prod. Update So there was some sort of suggestion that a thorough going review was underway. There was also mention of repeated labour disruptions by Santa Cruz unions. It could be that the company has come to the end of its tether as far as the whole Argentinian experience is concerned.Government, unions, running a business is a nightmare. The imposition of the export tax last year gave food for thought. However,if that was the case, why do the deal with GoldCorp back in December. What was that ,some sort of death rattle.A quick look at Orosur Mining doesn’t suggest that Uruguay will prove a more benign mining environment.Chile has potential I suppose.Mariana was canny to minimise its Argentinian involvement by striking it lucky in Turkey with Hot Maden.Whether Patty management have the same level of ingenuity, especially given the Miguens interest, is dubious.Mr Miguens holds slightly short of 40% of the equity, other interested insiders, take this to around 49%.Then you must add in private equity involvement. Finally, you’re left with public ownership(largely represented by broker nominees)which is both small and ineffectual.

Hello GsG Nice to hear from you on this board. I'm not going to ask anything about competitors as I am nursing very heavy losses on here. Do you think PGD are going private or do you think that they will asses and ask for monies and then go private
