harrogate: On the long view they are picking this up cheaply at less than one times sales but given the share price in the last however many years 50p will do for me. I was in a lot of pain at 9.5p to sell a couple of years ago or so so to get out at a decent profit is a relief. It is much better off as a US PE investment than a listed Uk company
harrogate: It is difficult to put a positive spin on this since they could have said good positive discussions are taking place with funders and we hope to announce the details of the refinancing soon... given they didn't you have to assume that they aren't having any positive discussions. Having said that in terms of negotiations with the funders the extra time they have will help with them not being under the cosh. You would have thought if there was good trading update they would have included it with this announcement... also they appointed a new broker, Shore capital, a while ago and I would have expected a broker note. You would think they didn't want the share price to go up. Maybe they don't!!
harrogate: Lets hope so ... the share price is telling me something is up
seahorseleisure: Harrogate I'm with you, bought a few more and gone long (more than i was) on these. I have been buying small amounts regularly since they were 80P so down a fair bit at the minute. Am sure that as a long term bet that these will come good. Its a good company with a motivated management team (high rewards for them if they get the share price up to £1.50+) and strategically they have changed a lot since the days of Applied Holographics. Hope / expect that this is the first of a few acquisitions and feel that they would have been more active (as would many companies) if the credit squeeze hadn't happened. Cheers SH
masurenguy: Just researching this stock. Perplexed about the announcement last month that the FD Mike Angus bought 51,718 shares @32p on 26/10, when the share price at that time was circa 65p. Can anyone please explain this ?
qazwsx123: Any share issue in OSG is dilutive because you end up with more shares. You dilute the exitisting shares. You are hoping the earnings keep up with the dilution to offset the dilution. However, the disadvantage of that is higher earnings produce no share price rise, because it is absorbed by the dilution. Dilution is not good for share price even if earnings are growing, and they are not exactly spectacular with OSG.
qazwsx123: OSG's share price @ 86p and PE ratio 24.57, now looks high enough; particularly as the last Results were only helped by an exceptional contribution of £3.3m from its joint venture 3dcd, that will not be repeated.
harrogate: GI I don't agree with your analysis - you need to strip out the JV contribution which as they have flagged several times is a one off - if this goes back to the previous years level of £690k as against the one off £3,298k this will reduce eps by 5p!! Therefore I do not think that they will make the same eps next year as this - I think it will be lower in fact even if they show good sales growth You should also use the diluted eps since there is a fair bit of dilution to come with options. I was also a bit shocked by the 41% increase in Admin costs - which shows they are spending some money to keep staff and upgrade technology - which is all good but will have a short term drag on the eps. I am not a seller but I don't think they are as cheap as you imply. I think the share price reaction was fair given the lack of a specific note on current trading and the JV issue.I also hoped for some acquisition news They are a good company now and there is a lot of corporate activity in the marketplace so could be interesting
seahorseleisure: Yorked Agree with you completely. The company has changed significantly over the last 18 months or so (reflected in the increase in share price of course) and hopefully has further to go. Obviously not without risk as with any expanding market place but Opsec seem to be well positioned and I look forward to it getting to and holding over 100p. It will be interesting to see the outlook statement in the results, (assuming no announcements till then) to see how bullish management are / remain. Cheers SH
seahorseleisure: Me too, picked up a few yesterday and again this morning. Read through the brokers comments and looking at the recent RNS comments about trading and acqusitions (tagged quietly on to the last trading update). Also noted that the management incentives don't kick in until the share price gets to almost £2. Based on these factors I can imagine newsflow and an increase in the shareprice over the next 12 months. Here's hopeing anyway. Cheers SH
