01/3/2018 22:53 | Spot on Augustus You did miss America also is armed - so chances of getting carted off to the gulag for general populace is low. In Corbyns unarmed Britain however only State and criminals have guns.Rest of us in a very precarious position. | fangorn2
26/2/2018 11:23 | I can also see the arguments for Deflation which the Central Bankers truly dread. We know that the Fed is desperate to increase interest rates purely because if they do no-then they will have nothing to cut in the next crisis,so not necessarily that they see inflation as any true reason. If Deflation becomes the feared event then we can assume they will at some point print more Confetti to infinty-but then that looks an inevitablity either way. Inflation on one side of the argument with deflation on the other,so which will the Fed misjudge as they are so trapped. Around October will be the hindsight whilst Gold "should" enjoy either/both scenarios. IMHO | richgit
23/2/2018 17:15 | richgit, I would say that the mega-rich who control the Govts want a continuation of the present situation. Over the past 50 years, trillions of dollars have moved to the richest from nearly everyone else on the prosperity ladder. They would want rid of Trump - because he is shaking up the gravy train (but not successfully). | augustusgloop
22/2/2018 17:09 | Couldn't understand the slight drop after the RNS so bought a wee top-up @ 9.75p (50k) | rhuvaal2
22/2/2018 16:38 | wally I think it will happen soon. Gold broke the downtrend in 2016 and has been consolidating ever since. Analysts are on about gold at $1500 by the end of this year. Fingers crossed! | davidspringbank
22/2/2018 13:13 | lol, yep that's the theory David. In practice, it has been 6-7 years since gold last took off and the gold miners were hot stocks. The next leg, seems to be taking it's time. Still Rome wasn't built in a day!! | wallywoo
22/2/2018 12:40 | When gold takes off, people will will scrambling to get into miners. And it's not just the big miners who will benefit, but the little ones like OMI will multiply in value. | davidspringbank
22/2/2018 11:37 | Elban. We all have to make some decisions before what may be coming with all this unpayable debt around. Yes,take your pick of the disciples of Evil, whether the CIA, Soros, Clintons and many others that are merely the Gofers for the true Evil ruling this World. I am mainly sitting on Vaulted Silver based on the idea of Gold on Steroids and also likely to be free from any manipulated nonsense of rumoured Gold confiscation, albeit a very unlikely event yet anyone lucky enough to have a few $million in vaulted Gold, could always elect to go and live where their Gold is safely vaulted - in absolute worst case scenario. At some point in the future I plan to swap my Silver for Gold, though that will be a hindsight of events that take place. I am using Gold related stocks as my main Gold investment, with I suppose a prayer that my Nominee account Holders don`t freeze up in some Market bust. It`s all down to Mr Trump to slowly drain the cesspit of Evil that is destroying us all,as nobody else ever will if Trump fails!!! -yet saving the US economy is asking for some Miracle. | richgit
21/2/2018 12:53 | Gold is most definitely going to $1500 this year and it will have an outsize effect to the bottom line for a relatively high cost miner like OMI. Columbia is in for free. WE haven't heard much about the Don Tito exploration in Uruguay. At one time OMI were forecasting a 50k-500k OZ find over a 600m x 50m area. | abc125
21/2/2018 11:22 | Richgit, I own gold and want to buy some more on the next dip. I bought it as insurance against all the possible problems that could flare up in this extraordinary financial situation that has now persisted for 10 years. I am coming more to the belief that the policies enforced throughout the World are those that benefit the mega rich -- they have funded institutions and academics to 'believe' the policies that suit them. They also fund investigations into politicians and prominent figures that counter their beliefs. They want: (1) globalisation (free trade), (2) Cheap labour, (3) ability to evade takes, (4) discredit global warming, (5) Lax and unenforced regulation. At some stage, the population will see this - because it becomes ever more evident as even the middle classes now struggle to afford a decent lifestyle. So, there will eventually be turmoil. | augustusgloop
21/2/2018 10:58 | ElbanAugustus. Opinions change as those offering them adjust to talking their own book with regards to changes in short or long positions,However I spend an average of 28 hours a week listening to/or reading the opinions of so many of those so called Financial Gurus, most especially those old enough to know about 20% interest rates. My own conclusion is that the ECB may now fear their idea of Bank Bailins as trust between Banks is worsening, and of course that is what nearly brought the whole Financial system to a freeze of inter Bank lending circa 2008/09. Thus I daresay Draghi will have to print many more Euro Billions to Bail out the next Banks (on the QT?) Of course Gawd forbid that Deutsche is on the list,so the pouring of reinforced concrete into their footings will be panicked priority. I daresay it is another hindsight as to whether Gold eventually soars against the Euro, whilst maybe for a period the $Dollar becomes pushed as the best of worthless Confetti. Of course Gold can also soar against a rising $Dollar as all Confetti heads to its Zero value which could become the underlying general Market foresight, most certainly for the Sovereign Gold buyers in the East. As a reminder $35 Dollars could buy an ounce of Gold and now it takes $1300 which should arguably be circa $5600 Now,so who wants to hide $Dollars under their Bed for the future ?. As the best performing stock Market is Venezuela, then it is possible the Dow will eventually keep rising-yet there will be the choice of investing in that and all its uknowns or "real assets" Maybe the Amazon version of Enron and all its hidden truths will soar even more, or in any Market Meltdown would have Investors looking for the real smoking gun that could suggest a 90% decline as it hides more losses. Nobody truly knows. Maybe the next 5 years or so will be in favour of a circa £10Million Market Cap producer and explorer. I tend to think so !!! | richgit
21/2/2018 10:31 | david ~ that is the only conclusion. Past performance has virtually nothing to do with the future outcome and the recent drill results bode well for the company. Gold miners are completely out of fashion and if I didn't have enough already I'd be buying more. No ramp intended. | rhuvaal2
21/2/2018 10:19 | gloop I suspect you are short and keep coming on here to encourage people to sell. | davidspringbank
20/2/2018 18:14 | 2011 NAV = $78.995m 2017 NAV = $35.195m Gold production (backwards) 35,371 35,773 53,485 60,271 64,994 55,458 | augustusgloop
20/2/2018 18:07 | rhuvaal2, it would only take you 15 minutes to check them. Go to the Orusur website - you can get the gold production numbers from each annual report. The Shareholder net assets are attained from the 2017 and 2011 balance sheet. Simple maths! | augustusgloop
20/2/2018 17:24 | Looks like we have Q3 results pain to look forward to then. | taperkick
20/2/2018 17:20 | We all know that you REALLY DO HATE this company and, as you wrote a couple of years back, wished it would go into administration, but that is NOT going to happen. Starting from now, this minnow could well grow to have many stiff hairs on its chest = making it a fearsome player in the precious metals pond. I am not convinced that your figures are anywhere near accurate either. | rhuvaal2
20/2/2018 16:57 | Take the period from 31st May 2011 to 31st May 2017. During this period - shareholder assets (net assets) fell by $43.8 million And they did a placing for $10 million. So a fall in shareholder's assets of $53.8 million. Not a penny was paid to shareholders. 305,352 ounces of gold were dug up and disposed of. -------------- So in this 6 year period, you - the shareholders - paid $53.8 million to have 305,352 ounces of your gold removed from the ground and passed into other's hands. Surely nobody thinks that you didn't get completely SHAFTED! | augustusgloop |
