Could a Greek exit be priced in or even spark a relief rally. I don't see much value in ftse atm. Keeping exposure to my usual booze, tobaco, utilities and pharmas. Also short RDSB 1800 put after drop on BG take over.
Good to see the thread running again.

Alp: yes, except for the time factor-- limited life span of options .

Hi Harv - will reply later but just as a clarification my put options are always backed by cash - so the risk profile of owning shares outright or writing put options backed by cash is similar.

ALP:
when inflation is low you don't need a big return to preserve the buying power of your money .
I still have a bigish share portfolio which could suffer badly in the event of a market crash . At least that is less risky than exposure to derivatives since the shares are fully paid for , not bought with borrowed money .
Losing say 0.5% per year on savings held in a sound currency is less painful than the foreign exchange cost of savings in a weak currency .
Of course , you know all that . If the Euro crashes the Swiss will probably unpeck the Swfr, painful as that may be for their industry .
I think the global financial situation is now so risky that capital preservation rather than getting a return should be the priority .
Have a look at www.usdebtclock.org . Quite scary !
You list some risk factors yourself . A Greek exit could shake the Euro to the core . The trouble with short put options is that they can move very fast against you when volatility spirals .

Harv - The question is what other alternatives are there for getting a return on funds? It is costing me now to hold cash in Switzerland.

Interest rates will rise which could rock the property market and the EU referendum could seriously damage the GBP.

ALP: my last short puts are sse J1200P . Almost worthless .
Not selling puts now . Too risky and insufficient premiums .

mj - Good luck with your roll over - market still seems more resilient than I had expected. Still have a fair number of equity options open. Year ended 4/2015 was only the second down (not dramatic) year for me over 15 years; due to under estimating the strength in the market.

Rolled over my calls, and sold a couple of June 6900 puts to finance the rollover fees and to try and close the gap between what the calls are owing and where I would like them to be.

Edit. I have just found a link that shows options prices.

Rolled over again last friday, and was not tempted to sell puts.
The premiun was too low.
It is looking a bit better now, but something is wrong with the ADVFN data feed, a broken cable so I cannot get the prices.
Hope all are well.

Sill plodding around selling ftse index options.

I have been running a call position for ages, and sometimes sell puts against it.

Just sold a couple of March 6450 puts for 12. 7 trading days to expiry and 250 points

Any ideas why this is trading at a premium to the takeover price? Most press articles seem to suggest the deal is already done?

The stock is actually trading through the offer price atm so perhaps the market smells a counter offer?

If you're holding, worth hanging on here.

All imo

Great outcome for holders here.

They had a big wobble with the 2013 numbers and were only guiding to low single digit revenue growth for 2015.

Well done to all holders.

Stav: are you familiar with Netotrade and what they are about ?
They advertise very narrow spreads .
