I would think gupta would have to resign.

#1410,

I would say (from bitter experience!) it is far more likely that a dominant shareholder is likely to use the trashed share price to take it private for a song.

I wouldn’t touch this with a barge pole, it could drop much further on more bad news.

I was thinking a fund but most have already sold out.

It did close NT to buy and good L2 so if no RNS first thing it might have a bounce but I did not gamble this afternoon and buy any.

That’s unlikely. More likely is, if found guilty, the company and the family both get fined in cash. How they both choose to finance the fines is up to them. Property gets seized usually when the accused can’t pay. That won’t apply here.

Probably a big seller in the back ground. Like the pension fund services, they own over 3% of the company. They might have strict rules that says, any dodgeyness from a company they sell up.

For me the upside outweighs the downside. Best things for shareholders is gupta gets his shares seized and the company gets put up forsale.

Def a good idea

Now who is the smart money because not all these huge trades are sales.

I'm not feeling brave enough to play myself

Shares in issue - 400m

Today's Mcap at 6p - around £24m.
Today's NAV - around £168m / 42p/share.

Today's build cost/replacement cost for the plant:
£820k per MW for this class.
414MW - £340m replacement value. 85p/share.

If the ED action leads to changes in management and ownership it would be no bad thing.

In the meantime there'll be uncertainty, hence the discount.

I would guess that any prosecution would be against Directors acting on behalf of the company, so the company would be liable (and possibly the Directors as well in a personal capacity). Of course nothing is clear cut yet, including guilt. There might conceivably be a political dimension to all this.

Its a interesting situation with opg. The CEO has had lots of assets seized including 700k cash at his own home because of alleged Money laundering issues. In the meantime the shareprice has fallen from 9.5p to 6p. The CEO owns 51% of the company, so if they want to seize his stake in the company surely the company will probably be put up for sale and anyway if found guilty he will lose his directorships.

Opg owns 414 MW and the NAV is currently at 42p. So if this issue is only individual persific and not company persific, it might work out for holders if they are forced to sell up because even at a large discount to the NAV 25p to 30p sale, holders will multi bag especially from this level.

But it certainly doesn't come without risk, as if its company persific, holders could get zero. But at the current price 6p its worth the risk in my eyes.

Thanks for the heads-up yesterday, very lucky for me since I haven't read this forum in ages. Glad not to see a 7:00 RNS and sold on the bell. Still a 5 figure loss since 2017, certainly nothing to be pleased about just glad it is not worse. Sadly this 'cash cow' has yet to deliver. I am unlikely to be back as I think it unlikely OPG will ever meet my current trading/investing criteria.

I'm not sure the statement that they have "robust track record of corporate governance and compliance" reconciles terribly well with the suggestion that they had 780k in cash lying around. I suspect that one of the claims is not entirely true, and The Hindu looks pretty reputable. Also if the searches were on Mon and Tues, how does it take until Fri to issue an RNS?

Nobody has the slightest clue what the company is worth. It could be nothing or it could be 30p+. And we can’t assess the probabilities of the two poles until the Directorate of Enforcement brings or drops charges.

But you posted it Dave, so well done! I’ve always said advfn works best when people work together honestly for the good of all. Far too often there is just unwarranted rudeness and point scoring.

You want to thank my friend then who holds none.

I tipped him this and said you get free inside info via India. I went offline and got a text from him which of course have you seen this link.

I'd have not seen it at all had it not been for him.

Could be a bargain if you believe in what they say ?

The Group's plants continue to operate as usual and the Group does not anticipate any material impact of the investigation process on the Group. The Group considers that it has a robust track record of corporate governance and compliance and has full faith and confidence in the regulatory system of India.

Think we owe dave4545 a vote of thanks for being ahead of the curve on this collapse and posting the link to The Hindu. I actually topped up with a small amount yesterday morning and sold all in the afternoon! Not too painful a loss on my top-up.
