I try not to get too excited, but the noises from OMIP and the Take That purchase, make me think it might be like a very small version of SONG, except OMIP has an additional strategy of adding value to the rights, because of enhanced tracking.

So maybe in a few years, we will be getting generous dividends, plus capital growth as a result of OMIP actually increasing the value of the rights. That would be evident from increasing returns.

Sky News commentary including interview with OMIP CEO:

"Music rights are very much the epicentre of the way the music industry works," says chief executive Michael Infante.
"What we have now is I think a recognition from fund managers in the City who have suddenly realised actually it's quite a robust recurring income."
One Media has several deals in the pipeline, he says.
"I think we're going to see a lot more of this. I think over the next six to 12 months, you'll be hearing more news from us and probably a lot more news from others."
Due to non-disclosure agreements, he can't name names at the moment, "but expect more in the same vein".

Topped up on today's dip. My afternon buy not yet showing.
Execution of the strategy will take time. Happy if others get impatient and sell in the meantime ;.)

Good to hear. No point in having an asset that's not earning.

Good to see there might be some value in M&M - I had assumed it was pretty much dead. I wonder if this could be meaningful in terms of bottom line in due course. They are clearly pushing on with things and I am sure content deals will be coming through in the next few weeks.

Still at a modest price. I wonder if they’re talking to SONG about TCAT. With some questions over catalogue valuation there, it would surely be helpful to them to add some value by tracking streaming a bit better than previously, for all those artists.

Then they would genuinely be adfing value.

Signing up for Take that songs, in fact getting them in the first place is a stroke of genius

I imagine this wil get a bit of coverage over the next few weeks.

Interesting that SONG must have paid some premium multiples for a lot of their catalogues, but its not that clear how they are going to improve the return, unless I’ve missed some explanations.

With OMIP, although they’ve now bought something that presumably had a full valuation, they have developed expertise in adding value. Perhaps they can also earn well from licencing TCAT to these larger businesses.

It looks like the returns from OMIP will not be fully dependent on paying dividends like SONG, but on business value growth, as a result of adding value to the royalty flow.

A bit slow moving, so I took my 15% a little earlier and moving on - good luck yump, a good steady business that given time will be rewarding but I have liquidated some smaller holdings for higher risk investments.

yump I think you are highlighting the potential of TCAT.
Apart from combating Piracy I am sure it also identifies
where a legitimate source has failed to pay.

On another note.
Very pleased with todays news.
I think that Pension Funds and other Income Funds, with low
interest rates, are finding it hard to find suitable investments.
I think we are seeing a focus on Music Royalties,
Hypgnosis only founded in July 2018, for that very reason, I believe
and generating a lot of interest.

So I wonder which artists songs can be bought at a reasonable multiple that will also have enough longevity to give a good return.

The aim of OMIP is to use their expertise, not only to just receive the royalties, but also to extend the reach of the songs, therefore increasing the return over and above the previous level. Its going to be difficult to see that effect directly, other than through results announcements.

Some of it from memory is simply about tracking the streaming more effectively. I can't recall how much royalty is supposed to go 'missing' as the result of lack of tracking - sure it was mentioned somewhere.

Important to note that, quantitatively, this deal is not huge - an RNS NON, and spend only 'a modest sum'. But the resilience and longevity of royalties from this deal are not in doubt, and it is a clear sign of the type of revenue streams to follow.

Tuck them away. Just above last funding price, and probably more artist news to come. Plus maybe some TCAT developments?

This will take time to build.
A few are 'admitting' to having traded out following the recent 10% markup. Fair enough if trading, but I'd be looking for another order of magnitude return.
Looks like holders can have high confidence in a stream of earnings enhancing deals, with a stream of publicity alongside that, cultivating wider investor interest.
Surely some media coverage tomorrow.

I think it shows that the seller is still around to soak up the buys. While the news was great to get some interest in OMIP the deal was actually very small financially so not really something that changes the numbers.

Disappointing to see so little interest and for the share price to fall back so quickly.
