Alongside the Take That deal, I see that Claire Blunt has secured a prestigious appointment:-

"One Media Chairman appointed as Chief Advertising Officer and CEO International at the Guardian Media Group"

I guessed it was now time for me to give up, but I think OMIP is back for good?

Anymore?

Your not the only one and you have enlightened me.
Looking at my investments I have two Red Flags and four Blanks.

Wow, I've been on ADVFN for years and I've only just noticed the symbols next to each company's name at the start of every thread.

Some sort of ADVFN algorithmic assessment of the business.
hahahahahaha

We have a red flag !!!
"This company has not met ADVFN's basic benchmark."

Of course no link to what the benchmarks are. Companies are assessed once a year, but you can pay £600 to have an 'expedited assessment', by a mysterious algorithm.

Given what I know about ADVFN, that seems to me to be a massive buy signal
;-)

ASOS: "This company has not passed ADVFN's basic benchmark."

Malgorithm more like.

Yes the Mail suggests that OMIP has "just acquired royalties for a clutch of early Take That songs from DJ and producer Ian Levine"

RNS tomorrow morning to confirm?

Michael Infante has been in this industry for over 30 years.
He has never had the funds to buy major Artists music rights.
In consequence he has had to buy carefully and has not,I believe, overpaid.

Looking at Hipgnosis in particular.
They only appeared in July 2018 with Merck Mercuriadis as their
music expert, clearly a talented and able individual.

Given the business model.
Large Capital Investment to acquire Music Rights and a long
period to recover that expenditure and later hopefully profit
from it.

OMIP results are in around 10 weeks and Hipgnosis probably early July.

OMIP - Low Market Cap, over £6 million in cash - exciting possiblities
with TCAT

SONG - High Market Cap - 100X OMIP, Heavy Debt, as at 6th January 2021
The Company has entered into an agreement with a syndicated group of lenders, with JPMorgan Chase Bank as Lead Arranger, to increase its Revolving Credit Facility from $400 million to $600 million. The Company may request an increase in the Revolving Credit Facility commitment by a further $150 million subject to certain conditions.

I cannot help but think that Hipgnosis will be seen to have overpaid.
That will only be confirmed when we have a few years future results.

I guess OMIP are best for the moment just doing the part rights interests on a smaller scale.

Curious to see what's going to happen with TCAT.

Its a theory.
They would have to increase their Market Cap
at a phenomenal rate, Song alone has 100 times their value.
Looking at a recent transactions
It was revealed earlier this month that Young had relinquished half the copyright and income interests to 1,180 of his songs to the Hipgnosis Songs Fund in a deal that reportedly earned him $150 million.

Personally I would like them to continue picking up niche rights and
see how TCAT evolves.

We could see a significant uplift in value and in time a tempting target for
bigger players.

I think its possible that with improving results and a significantly higher share price, that OMIP might raise, in order to buy more rights, which would increase the number of shares and make it more likely this would attract funds.

If they've established a business model that works, it wouldn't be like a normal dilution that is complained about, because the future results would be pretty much known in advance.

Although they've still got £6mln to spend.

Clock I agree these have huge potential, ironically ZAIM broke out Friday aswell, reading earlier a piece about buying up beaten up small stocks think it was Invesco, quite a few companies moved Thursday and Friday that previously hadn’t moved much but had good updates, if some big players are starting to buy into a range of small stocks they could move swiftly

I have just taken somemore. Highly asymmetric risk reward. Not difficult to acquire a nontrivial % of the equity. So small however, that one can see why instis would not be that interested, for the moment... .

Interesting. I wonder what sort of valuations and multiples are being put on the rights.

Good that OMIP don't appear to have just piled into anything and at least state their aim of buying at reasonable multiples. Valuations have been rising for a few years I think, but I'd be surprised if that applies to the less famous artists.

Having a huge catalogue is a big positive as the chances are that you will find some tunes keep ringing the tills.

I noticed the following just today:

This reminds me of someone when we were rallying who used to rally a custom made Peugeot Cosworth. He had his own team of engineers and an entire dedicated workshop in a barn.

Turned out he was a potato farmer.

OMIP might build a massive catalogue of music that nobody here has ever heard of, but that should be a big benefit, as long as the audiences are long term.

Its a tricky balance between thinking you've found a gem that's unnoticed and the reality that some gems will just go unnoticed for a long time. It all requires a bit of 'celebrity-ness'. Now if OMIP bought 1 track from a current pop sensation as part of their new strategy of buying part rights to catalogues...

although problem with that is that music will not have a long shelf life for earning streaming royalties.

At least it’s seeing some action, I bought some ZAIM on a great trading update and hardly anything happens, I’m the only one to post on there this year and that was today! 5 posts since floating although they are now profitable and grew 490% in 5 months it’s like they don’t exist, these hardly moved after I bought them but at least it’s looking good now, it’s patience this game

No difference to the way Bitcoin value has exploded really but in a mini way but I agree with you yump - it is crazy but it seems to work for some like a Ponzi scheme but it is legal.

Ha ha. It is not my world but that is how it is. Yes I guess it is the same as in 1987 when a guy in a pub told me to buy Bristol Channel Ship Repairers and when I got back to work I found that my boss had just bought some because a guy he played squash with told him about it. Much faster and much broader messages these days.

“Twitter induced buying”

I’m just shaking my head wondering what on earth has happened in the last 10 years to end up with that. I suppose its the same as if you took 100 London taxis and talked to each driver about shares ;-)

Decent volume yesterday and looking at the trades shown late on it seems clear that the Twitter induced buying was met with enough of the overhang still left to accommodate it. Can't last for ever though.
