28/11/2005 11:45 | I assume from the lack of RNSs that OCE has not yet sold any of its assets. What about the convertible notes? Some of the portfolio gives the impression that is might be a good idea to convert in 2006/07. For example BMDiamond Corp. V | vassily
28/11/2005 11:27 | Giant Steps: Yes, still hopeful. I looked at some of the Canadian parts of the OCE portfolio and they don't look that bad in terms of prospects. The prices are starting to rise again (and continue we hope). For instance, BPN.v- Bralorne-Pioneer is now rising after reaching a 5 year (?) low. Rheochem is just lacking news and therefore the price continues to decline. No news since Aug 1st. Strange. There has also been no results since March 2005. Uhmmm. All: Does anyone have news on the other investments? Indeed does anyone have an uptodate list. I think one or more companies have been absorbed into others which I assume OCE has maintained a share. | vassily

27/11/2005 21:04 | its been going down since launch! theyve continually written down/off investments. | rambutan2
27/11/2005 20:41 | I wonder what caused the large drop in NAV in the last RNS? Surely with commodities and mining co's rising in a rising market, this should be up not down! The market took a day to react as well! | mach10
27/11/2005 10:10 | With the gold price rising and supply limited, OCE looks interesting. OK. It has some debt (3m in 2004), but some of its gold buys are now looking undervalued and are beginning to rise again. Perhaps the low NAV is just the nadir, the zenith has yet to come. I wonder whether the winding up of this company in 2007 is a little premature? It does seem so with gold and commodities on the rise. V | vassily
23/6/2005 16:44 | Bit delayed with the monthly NAV aren't they? I sent Hutchins an e-mail about the website 18mths ago. He promised they were already working on it....some progress. I still think OCE will perform ok despite the management - commodity markets are strong and major shareholders are right in preparing for a wind up of the company....anyone else still following this? | raulcastro
26/5/2005 11:23 | i went to the agm last week. was only shareholder there. told them what i thought. chairman promised me he would be buying some shares shortly - i pointed out only 100 shares held between the board. was promised that a proper website would be up and running soon. big increase in expenses was down to loan write off re ar. then had chat with mr hutchins. has high hopes for two biggest stakes and of something happening with bulgarian miner, everything not quoted written down to lower of cost or fair value. but he severely restricted in what can do until can make some cash. stake in ocean equ is in reality 25%, not what in books. chairman said that big boys were not happy. came away feeling that should do better this year but not expecting any fireworks. | rambutan2

17/5/2005 18:23 | Rambutan2 - I haven't received the annual report yet. Did it say anything of any significance regarding strategy going forward? Or is there nothing really new to report? THere are some activist shareholders on the register and I wonder if they're going to try and do something about the large discount to NAV...like getting the board to sell holdings and return cash to shareholders.... | raulcastro

20/4/2005 09:39 | Has anyone seen the manager's report? Seems amazing not to be able to find it!! (plus the website hasn't been updated for literally years...) | raulcastro
17/4/2005 08:01 | Only just read the Chairman's Statement. Very downbeat. Only mentioned bad news, didn't mention good news. All very odd. What about the companies that have done well in the year - Archipelago Resources and Reochem to name but two. Is this being lined-up for some corporate activity I ask myself? Where was the Investment Manager's Report? | topvest
