Nice results today with bullish comment from M Fosh. Like the special dividend - should help them maintain pricing discipline in a market with too much capital. 4%+ yield plus the occasional special dividend feels like a strong hold. Difficult to grow in this market, but with some M&A activity at other Lloyd's MAs, some new teams may come loose. Less of a premium to other comparables, so at least a hold IMHO, for me an add on weakness which may come when it goes XD.

It was a few sales on low volume, as has happened to a few shares over the new year, and I bought the dip as these are good value.
Back up sharply this morning.

Taking a bit hit today; anyone know the reason? Perhaps they are exposed to the recent flooding problems in the south?

welcome aboard a very quiet board. Rumous re the acquisition of Antares: looks a very good fit if done at the right price c£200m premium would be a nice addition and give Novae scale.

No comment on here about the trading update of PBT signifcantly ahead of the BOD's expectations at not less than £45m. Thats EPS of around 50p. Hope that might also benefit an already good yield.

Huge increase here - can't see that buying £7.5m of binds merits it. So should be a good second half OTW, but are there any crop protection losses lurking. Or is a buyer lurking?

What will announcement of merger talks with Omega bring? Currently Novae has the biggest discount to NTA of any Lloyd's insurer. Property and RI focus of Omega leads to little overlap, but will this increase the volatility of the account? Can't see huge cost savings other than removal of PLC costs. Bermuda licence could be useful post Solvency II if Europe penalises Lloyd's or are the expecting a diversification benefit to flow through the capital base?

Suppose those loses aren't too bad considering what has happened. I guess with premiums likely to be rising in price it's probably not a bad time to be buying some NVA assuming the bad news / fear is priced in.
