Also bit wary of these press lead takeovers without any RNS as we had recently with IPR.

Dont forget NWG is one of Ecofin's (ECWO,ECWL,ECWZ,ECWS) largets holdings and they are trading at discount to net assets value at the moment.

Having topped up at over £3.14 with costs over a year ago I will be very disappointed if this is taken out at as little as £3.25.

£4+ would be reasonable.

Being retired and investing for income I would perfer NWG to stay independent with its proposed divi policy.

Private investors will have little say.

In my opinion Kelda went too cheaply.

With UU. we have been stitched up with B shares etc three years ago, then the cashback and share consolidation. This massively reduced our divis because we ended up with fewer shares as well as a 30% divi reduction. We did not get enough cash to re-invest and make up the divi loss. Now UU. shareholdrs are facing a further 12.5% reduction in income from the next financial year.

The question that has been previously asked: Where do you next invest for reliable income if NWG goes at this low suggested figure?

My biggest holding after the reduction in value of UU. is DVW. It is not in my long term interests that DVW should be taken over.

There were takeover rumours about 2.5 years ago & the price hit £3.70.Might get some of my loses back but they do pay a nice dividend!

* A Canadian pension fund (Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan) is preparing a £1.7-billion takeover bid for Northumbrian Water, the FTSE-250 group. Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan already owns 27% of the company and has long harboured a desire to take it private.

Gateside, with you on that one, I hold lots of PNN and NWG, I hope we can see more than £3.25 bid on NWG.

Markie7... Of the remaining 3 water companies I feel PNN are the best by far.

I certainly hope that it is more.

The Times article is suggesting that 25% over Friday's close may be offered.

Who suggested £3.25, Zeppo? Or is that your feeling?

If not before there is an Interim Management Statement due on 9th Feb.

I hold these, DVW and UU. for income.

Whatever is happening to UU's share price currently the income, which is to be cut by a further 12.5% from the 2010/11 trading year, has been cut but more than 50% with the cash back and share reduction.

If the NWG takeover goes ahead it is suggested it will be at about £3.25+.

Looking forward to next week.

The income stream is very attractive to the Pension Funds. I hold 'lots of UU' as well, it has been a bleak 2009, but it's all looking a bit more cheerful now.
Let's see what Monday brings for NWG!!

Good luck guys, I don't hold, but I've got lots of United Utilities, so I will be taking a very keen interest in this story as it develops:

Interim figures will be announced on 23rd Nov.

Final OWAT determination only affects water prices from after 1st April 2010 - so 08/09 Interim and Full Year dividends should be unaffected.

Yes Minister...if this government needs infrastructure job creation and corporation tax receipts, ofwat and investors need a sound decision that gives the appearance of politicians smelling like roses

I am really surprised this has dropped from 260. Looks well oversold and if I could release money from elsewhere then I would certainly be in! Actually, I think I might just do that tomorrow!
