Thanks Brads! I looked on another site and it showed a different date. They must have got it wrong.

With dividend out of way and ofwat decisions ~ november, a further 10% down looks possible but you never know for certain

Dividend will be paid 11/09/09 according to the financial calendar.

Our dividend will not paid till September 2010? Is that right? Strange that there is such a long gap between the ex dividend date and the payment date.

Sector decidedly out of favour I'm afraid and can only see a downward trend over the next month or two...hope I am wrong but tempted to hit the sell button...

rebess,
read the broker notes on the Ofwat ruling re the water utilities and you'll see they universally say Northumbrian and Pennon are best placed and will probably manage a 3% real growth in divi.

There is no 'massive gearing'.

Unlikely Northumbrian will require a rights issue.

The massive gearing is now looking like a huge millstone around the neck of NWG.

A rights issue seems the most likely scenario now. Either that or a significant reduction in dividend.

Where does Cuthbertson fit in?

Nowhere really, he's just the CEO, the Major Domo that runs the outfit.

Look on your Sharescope (good isn't it) at directors information, you'll learn more there

Good luck.

I see nothing sinister.

Waiting for 23rd July 2009 when OFWAT publish draft determinations for comment.

Completed settlements/agreements with water companies will be announced 26th November 2009 approx.

Hope to see continued rise in divis. with inflation and efficiency savings - but who knows what OFWAT will decree for the 2010-2015 period?

Yes, it's languishing but on my chart (Sharescope) there seems to be a Golden Cross coming up.
I also hold Dee Valley and that's showing strength, there's been a suggestion of smaller Utilities being on someone's (forgotten who) shopping list.
I missed the announcement about Cuthbertson - excuse my ignorance but where does he fit in?

Hasn't been much comment on this thread of late.

The share price seems to be languishing somewhat.

Does anyone see anything sinister in Cuthbert's announced departure?

Is the breakout on? Hope so. Bought in earlier in the week. Also got into NG. and GSK recently. Defensives look too cheap.

I agree with aspers. That is a printed double bottom, there should at least be some near-termm upside here. I bought in when the offer dipped to 209
