23/11/2011 14:05 | I posted a few months on this board that I was finally selling my NOP shares as I was totally fed up with the progress (ie none). But when it came to actually selling them, I had second thoughts, and decided to give it a little longer...... Well I did it yesterday, sold them. No regrets, this is a disaster of a company, showing no progress with an overpaid board which shows no business acumen whatsoever...... Bought them about 5 years ago in 2 batches, average 165p.... Sold for about a 50% loss yesterday, but had I held on I'd be even more down today. I've decided to take the proceeds and spend it on my birthday bash to London instead, I'm taking 6 people to london for 4 days in january, so the money will be handy!! Mind you, if the shareprice was still 165p, it would have been twice as good, and we could have been going to the Savoy instead of the Sanderson! Good luck to all you shareholders hanging on in there, I wish you all luck. But you all deserve better than the current board, they are a disaster...... | failedqs

22/11/2011 23:08 | Thanks for the comprehensible answer val. Temp room temp probably 70 f. About 5 gallon per batch. I've tried 1 kilo ordinary sugar and 500g crystal malt. Still too dry. What would you recommend? | sg31

22/11/2011 21:53 | Sugar ferments quickly and almost 100% i think and its a bit of a no no in ale as it tends to lend itself to dryness and watery thin bodied high alchol beer. When you have a high % of sugar you get that alcho burn in your gob. I think the problem you have is maybe down to the fact you use normal sugar and that your yeast attenuates to much leaving you with a high abv but no residual sweetness. What temp do you ferment at? I use liquid yeast and culture these up, dry packet yeasts are ok maybe try a nottingham ale yeast as these have middle attenuations. What volume are you brewing in? H=# | valhalla3
22/11/2011 20:11 | Thanks val. I'm trying to understand that link. In effect there is insufficient non fermentable sugar in the wort. Is that right? So add malto dextrin or lactose? | sg31
22/11/2011 19:01 | Sg i neva dun a ginga beer but it soulds lkei its over attenuating usin ur champerz yeast ive used us-05 b4 n that eats up 2 much and gives a dry ale so maybe try a packet of 04, how longs it takin 2 get down 2 fg? if its the same everytime it mite be worth secondary ferm in syphon into another vessel with sugar ginger nutmeg and stick it somewere cold to let the yeast drop out the solution. When u have 2much fermentables in the form of sugar it tends to be dry. G=# time 4 a drink me dukz | valhalla3

22/11/2011 10:17 | By happy coincidence , I held a tasting session last night. All of the drink left over from Mrsbdog's birthday lunch was successfully tasted by myself (all except the horrible German white). The result was that it was all jolly nice. | bionicdog |
